Our Senior Accounts Payable job contributes to REI’s success by processing complex financial data within the Accounts Payable department and following the established accounting policies of the organization. Primary responsibilities include reconciling complex vendor account statements, three way match resolution, (GRIR), blocked invoice clearing/releasing, complex and time sensitive non-purchase order processing and resolving in-depth customer inquiries. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.

* Analyzes, reviews and posts complex clearing issues in the GRIR account including the daily GRIR quantity and price discrepancies and the four month in arrears clearing.

* Analyzes and reconciles more complex vendor statements and accounts, identifying and resolving discrepant items.

* Corresponds with vendors, conducts investigations and brings complex discrepancies to resolution.

* Reviews, balances, upload and posts complex corporate financial data from multiple systems into the Accounts Payable Ledger in an accurate and timely manner.

* Maintains awareness of all activities and issues that could impact daily operations and service levels of the Accounts Payable Department.

* Recommends and helps implement workflow improvements.

Qualifications:

* Associate of Arts degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred

* 5+ years experience of Accounts Payable experience

* Solid understanding of multiple financial systems, AP software, Excel, Word and Outlook

* Demonstrated ability to coach, train, and provide assistance to other Accounts Payable staff on more complex accounts payable reconciliations

* Consistently demonstrated excellent analytical and problem solving skills

* Demonstrated ability to resolve and/or escalate conflict using tact and diplomacy

* Ability to maintain confidentiality surrounding sensitive customer or company information

* Actively participates and collaborates with others on one''s own team and across REI for the achievement of business goals

* Flexible in one''s viewpoints and positions in order to support the direction taken by others at REI

* Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities
