Our Lady of Peace (OLOP) is a private, not-for-profit psychiatric hospital in Louisville, KY, a service of Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare. The hospital was originally founded in 1951 by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. With 396 beds, Peace is one of the one of the largest psychiatric hospitals in the nation. The Children’s Peace Center at Our Lady of Peace is the largest and most comprehensive private provider of child/adolescent inpatient psychiatric care in the country. *3 Lourdes* – Adult Psych/CD Ages 18+

Provides leadership in planning, organizing and coordinating the functions of an assigned patient care unit for a specific shift. This role may provide care to a various patient population throughout the life span.

Provides nursing care including administration of medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established nursing policies and procedures. Care provided is based on defined standards of patient care and nursing practice.

**Essential Duties:**

* Manages and coordinates the care of patients in a defined care delivery model, utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
* Supervises and/or provides all nursing care provided to an assigned patient population. Any delegated care is based on the abilities and limitations of care personnel and patient acuity. Continually monitors the performance of the team members reporting to the RN and adjusts the delivery of care or clinical technique appropriate to the patient.
* Collaborates and communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team.
* Accountable for patient/family education in collaboration with interdisciplinary care team and patient/family.
* Documents nursing care and patient status in accordance with the nursing process and standards of care.
* Provides a safe environment and promotes quality patient care through adherence to established standards.
* Identifies opportunities for and participates in performance improvement activities.
* Demonstrates competent professional practice, and engages in opportunities for professional growth.
* Contributes to the productivity and professional environment of the department.
* Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

Current RN license in the State of Kentucky; BSN preferred. BLS required.

Minimum two years clinical nursing experience preferred. One year of experience required if position is for the Resource Team or a PRN position. Psychiatric nursing experience preferred. Able to complete Safe Crisis Management and perform Safe Crisis Management techniques.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program is preferred. Effective May 1, 2014, all new-hire Associate Degree Registered Nurses (new graduate and experienced) are required to start an approved BSN program within two years of hire and complete an approved BSN program within five years of hire.
