Additionally, this position:  inspects structures previously inspected to ensure quality and consistency;  accompanies inspectors while performing inspections to determine compliance with applicable building codes;  audits inspection documentation;  responds to technical inquiries;  develops and facilitates educational programs;  prepares field office progress reports;  issues directives as determined necessary by Austin management;  responds to and resolves complaints; and  develops and evaluates program activities and improvements. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in construction science, construction management, architecture, or a field related to the assignment. Education and experience may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis. Additionally, this position requires: three years experience in building design, architecture, construction work, or a field related to the assignment;  International Code Council (ICC) Coastal and Floodplain Inspector certification or its equivalent within one (1) year from date of hire;  Class C Texas Driver License; and  travel on a consistent and regular basis, including possible relocation to another coastal field office. This position requires the demonstrated knowledge of:  Windstorm Building Code, International Residential Code, International Building Code, and other laws and statutes that may govern the construction of structures on the Texas Gulf Coast;  insurance principles and practices; and  applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. This position requires the demonstrated skill in:  maintaining records;  using Microsoft Office software applications, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook;  using standard office equipment; and  using personal computers sufficient to enter and extract data from related systems and programs, such as Oracle. This position requires the demonstrated ability to: handle stressful situations; perform physical inspections of residential structures, including set-up and climbing ladders to inspect roofs;  bend, stoop, and stretch in order to perform a quality inspection;  climb heights to +/- 40 feet;  comprehend and apply building codes;  comprehend and apply product evaluation reports, and obtain new product information as required for certification;  observe established safety requirements;  conduct inspections and identify non-compliant findings;  prepare clear and concise reports of findings;  communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees and the general public;  establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, builders, contractors, engineering firms, insurance industry representatives, lending institutions, homeowners, and the general public;  interpret rules, regulations, policies, and procedures;  comprehend and apply complex regulatory rules and statutes to determine compliance or solve problems; and  wo
