Global Corporate Payment Technologies is a fast passed ever-changing technical delivery group responsible for enhancing and creating new capabilities for our Global Payments and Risk Organization in support of our Corporate Card Programs.

We are seeking a dynamic individual who will be a key member of a development team responsible for creating and innovating servicing capabilities for our global corporate customers at American Express. The individual will become a subject matter expert (SME) on the applications he or she supports. This role will be accountable for creating and delivering code to meet business and customer needs, writing low maintenance, high reliability code to be used in a 24/7 environment. This role will require a strong thought leader who also works collaboratively in a team environment to meet exciting challenges and develop innovative and creative solutions. The individual will develop relationships across multiple teams while also a key member of a team delivering new business solutions in addition to site enhancements, development prioritization and release management for a global online application for American Express’s largest corporate customers.

* Converts user program specifications into source code

* Creates and delivers low maintenance, high reliability code to meet business and customer needs

* Responsible for the design, build, test and implementation phases, as well as ensuring adherence to technical standards.

* Ensures the quality of deliverables through in-depth requirement/user story analysis within the technical architecture.

* Works with architecture experts to ensure solutions support the business and IT strategic plan.

* Undertakes regular code reviews to ensure alignment with development, implementation and performance standards are met

* Provides estimates for design, build, test and implementation phases

* Updates program specifications and implementation documentation

* Revises code based on test results

* Prepares code for production

* May support the design, configuration and integration of third-party software products

* Involved in unit, integration and user acceptance testing - reviews test scripts; aligns wider testing strategy with Quality Assurance Managers

* Escalates, provides feedback and proposes changes to program/implementation specifications and/or third-party software products

* Flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities based on customer needs

## Qualifications

* 5+ years of Java and/or Java EE development experience

* Prior experience in multiple IT disciplines with a proven understanding of architectural concepts

* Demonstrated proficiency in the mechanics of service-oriented computing through the mastery of patterns, principles, practices, and industry-standard technologies

* Ability to quickly understand new technology environments, concepts and architectures.

* Experience working with a geographically dispersed team.

* Hands-on knowledge and understanding of architecture, requirements analysis, applications systems design, and integration, with a detailed understanding of applicable programming methodologies and AMEX standards

* Experience with application design and configuration. Integration of third-party software products a plus.

* Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence cross functional teams, business partners and/or vendor partners, and technology leaders.

* Has the ability to work with business partners and articulate technical trends/concepts and design/implementation considerations.

* Demonstrated achievement, strategic thinking, curiosity to learn and grow, and a customer focused mindset

* Exposure to Agile methodologies a plus

* Hands on experience with the following technologies/languages: Java, J2EE, HTML 5, CSS3, Javascript, AJAX, JQuery, DB2 (queries and stored procs), Spring Struts, Webservices (SOAP/Rest) a plus

* Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field (or has equivalent work experience).
