Primary Focus
Responsibility for performing, coordinating, directing and overseeing the functioning of corporate and enterprise-wide Information Technology (IT) audits. Improve the efficiency, effectiveness of financial, and operating IT systems supporting the Enbridge group of companies. Internal IT auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity that seeks to provide value-added recommendations to management. It requires the application of a systematic and disciplined approach, with adherence to professional standards, to evaluate and recommend improvements to an organization’s risk management, control and governance processes. Includes coordination with external auditors and liaison with audit staff and management in all locations, on audit issues and administration.
Responsibilities
On-going evaluation and modification of direction, mandate, department plan, resources and processes employed by IT audit group to ensure the department continues to provide effective internal information technology auditing to stakeholders.
Keep abreast of strategic plans, major organizational changes and ensuring department is appropriately resourced to meet changing roles and responsibilities;
Responsible for communicating Internal Audit activities to senior management and as required, support the reporting of Internal Audit activity , significant information technology findings and other matters relating to IT risk management, control and governance processes to the appropriate Audit, Finance and Risk Committee;
Responsible to plan, assign and monitor all IT audit activities undertaken by IT audit staff including approval of audit plans, procedures and reports to ensure compliance with departmental and professional standards.
Ensure IT activities are sufficiently addressing the relative risks of the affiliates within scope of responsibility and providing value-added advice or other tools.
Meet with senior management to solicit their feedback and input into Internal Audit activities and to promote our services;
Actively promote and develop an environment within Internal Audit that promotes a continuous learning culture and opportunities for growth.
Establish synergies and enhancements to service offerings with other Enbridge audit groups.
Qualifications
Possess a business or computer science degree combined with a professional accounting designation or MBA, Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT and Certified Information Systems Auditor designations, 7 – 10 progressive directly related experience;
Some technical orientation and skills would be a valuable asset in the following areas; technology infrastructure, network security, database (ORACLE), application controls, access security reviews, operating systems reviews (UNIX), active directory and web applications;
Strong ITGC control design effectiveness evaluation knowledge and ability to write test scripts.
Business acumen resulting in application of judgement that demonstrates broad understanding of underlying business and IT drivers/priorities and the connection/impact of Audit Services on other areas of IT / business;
Able to apply detailed knowledge of Control Objectives for Information Technology (CobIT), Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) as the model for service delivery, International Standard Organization 17799 for Information Security, and other industry’s best practices, among others;
Critical/independent thinking allowing for quickly synthesizing high volumes of information, identify the most critical components and understanding implications for underlying activity/process;
Strong analytical and problem solving skills allowing the development of complex plans or analyses and creation of new concepts;
Self motivated individual demonstrating intrinsic motivation or desire to excel, achieve stretch goals, provide additional value and increase levels of accountability;
Strong results orientation;
Excellent facilitation, negotiation, and influencing skills, demonstrating great diplomacy and tact, while building informal/formal network of mutually beneficial relationships;
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) that allow for communication of simple to complex ideas appropriately tailored to target audience;
Strong organization skills including the ability to oversee and perform multiple, concurrent projects;
Strong customer service orientation.
