Synopsis The Acoustics/Noise Control consultant will be responsible for project management of architectural acoustics projects for existing clients and projects, and developing work for new clients. Work is focused in the SouthWestern U.S., based in Houston, Texas. Technical Skills/Experience Conduct drawing reviews Determine architectural acoustical deficiencies with preliminary designs Formulate acoustics and noise control design concepts for enhanced speech intelligibility, reverberation control, reduction of background noise, increased sound transmission loss, provision of vibration isolation Involvement during schematic design (SD), design development (DD), contract documents (CD), bid/negotiating, and construction administration (CA) phases Conduct site testing with sound measurement instrumentation Develop computer noise models using EASE, CATT Acoustic, and Trane Acoustics Program (TAP) Participate on teams of consultants providing acoustics and noise control services, interfaced with multi-disciplinary services in other locations where SLR operates Mentor less experienced staff in acoustics and noise control analyses Help manage clients and market services Personal Attributes/Traits Knowledgeable Analytical and results oriented Effective written/oral communication skills Able to develop rapport and credibility Team player Professional Service minded Education/Qualifications B.S. or M.S. degree in Engineering Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics, or equivalent Minumum of 5 with a preference fo 10 years' experience in acoustics and noise control Working knowledge of architectural acoustics as it relates to design of large commercial projects Past experience working with architects, MEP engineers, and developers Experience in consulting and/or industry, preferably focused on producing noise control design concepts and recommendations Proficient organizational, leadership, interpersonal, writing, analytical, and client relations skills are required
