Job Description

The Associate Controller performs the following duties under supervision:

* Monitor and control (through SCADA) transmission and substation facilities to ensure transmission line and transformer loading within ratings.
* Ensure a reliable system by maintaining/restoring acceptable generating unit reactive capacity, line loading, bus voltages, transformer load tap changes, switched capacitors/reactors and operation of transmission breakers/switches. This also includes monitoring and responding to station equipment alarms and grid element voltage/limit alarms.
* Write/check/issue switching orders for transmission and substation facilities consistent with the Oncor Transmission Safety Handbook to ensure safety of field personnel, under both normal and emergency conditions, while making transmission and substation facilities available for maintenance and construction activities.
* Restore service (through SCADA and dispatch of field personnel) to transmission and substation facilities to reduce customer outage time and restore system integrity (voltage stability and transfer capacity). This would also include protecting system components from serious life degradation or harm.
* Log all planned and unplanned transmission and substation events in the daily desk log, ERCOT Outage Scheduler, and in the Transmission Outage Application (TOA) to provide current system status and populate the historical database.
* Coordinate/direct Black Start restoration activities between Oncor Control Center (TGM), Black Start generation unit, DOC, & ERCOT to restore service in the event of a State-wide blackout.
* Maintain working knowledge of desk manuals (TGM Procedures, System Emergency Operations Procedures, Transmission Safety Handbook, Black Start, Air Ambulance Medical Assistance, etc.) to ensure safety and reliability.
* Actively participate in training program to enhance job performance and meet applicable certification requirements.
