Job Description: R&D; S&E;, Syst Rese Analy SE Job Summary: Job Specifications: An immediate opening exists for an experienced staff member to support Sandia NWMA strategic decision making and policy development. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Nuclear Weapons Strategic Planning and Enterprise Integration team by developing and maintaining situational awareness within a policy domain relating to the future of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile. In this role, the successful candidate will also be expected to act as point of contact for constituents and stakeholders associated with their policy domain both within and outside Sandia. The candidate will be expected to provide technical contributions individually and as a member and lead of technically diverse teams. A fundamental aspect of the successful candidate's responsibilities will be the integration and analysis of disparate data sources into high quality reports and briefing products that support executive interactions. The ideal candidate will have a medium to long term professional history and established working relationships within the nuclear weapons enterprise and will actively work to expand their professional network and technical impact within the nuclear weapons enterprise Job Summary: Provides decision insight to customers in ill-defined or complex multi-domain problem areas by applying critical thinking using a diversity of technical skills and expertise, and effectively communicating results of analyses to explain options and trade-offs. Formally defines problems, formulates solution requirements, develops technical approaches, gathers information from a variety of sources, and applies analytical and modeling methods from mathematics, the sciences, and engineering to illuminate, modify or create system architectures, and perform objective assessments. Develops, evaluates, and utilizes analytical and computational tools for the evaluation of complex systems and systems-of-systems. Creates analytical frameworks germane to stakeholder objectives and evaluates competing characteristics between system elements to determine the most effective integrated system solution(s). Uses a multidisciplinary approach and teams as appropriate to model interfaces and interactions between the components of complex systems. Familiarity with Sandia's capabilities and competencies Required: -Advanced degree in Engineering or Science plus five or more years of experience -Knowledge of the NW Program, Complex, and Stockpile -High level of technical credibility -Travel -- domestic and some international Desired: -Understanding of NNSA and DoD organizations -Familiarity with the budget planning and deployment processes -Understanding of current US nuclear weapons policy and direction -Demonstrated experience developing executive level briefings, papers, and correspondence -Demonstrated interactions with NNSA, U.S. Federal Government, or international clients Security Clearance: Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE)-granted Q-level security clearance. Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications.
