This position incorporates expertise in librarianship and a commitment to student-focused reference and instructional service delivery, both F2F and at a distance. As a member of the instruction team, this position actively supports the development of information literacy education at NorQuest College. This librarian will create instructional materials and information literacy learning objects, deliver instruction using a variety of approaches and methodologies, and will actively promote the development of information literacy of learners college-wide. This position fully participates in the day-to-day activities of the library, working collaboratively with all library staff, faculty, and partners across the college to perform duties required for effective and efficient library operations.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: **
* Student service includes: desk service, provision of office hours, integrated writing service support, instruction, and library orientations.
* Distance learning support: Design, deliver and evaluate library and information literacy support to students who interact with the library at a distance.
* Information Literacy promotion and support: Engage as a key member in the information literacy strategy and objectives.
* Content development (research guide development, tutorial development, creating LMS-embeddable learning objects)
* Participates in Library Operational teams, as appropriate.
* Develops and maintains professional and cooperative relationships with external organizations such as other libraries, library associations, and literacy associations, etc.
* Represents the Library on appropriate College committees
* Actively participates in library social media promotion and communications in such a way that it adds value to the library and benefits the library’s clients.
* Collection development at NorQuest library is a distributed responsibility across multiple library staff members. This position will carry specific collection development requirements in a specific subject area.
**QUALIFICATIONS: **
* M.L.S./M.L.I.S degree from an ALA, accredited institution.
* Strong presentation and instruction skills.
* Ability to grasp the complexities (technological and pedagogical) of delivering services and instruction to library clients at a distance.
* Ability to work in a highly integrated team environment while managing multiple priorities.
* Empathy for learners with various levels of knowledge, skills, and abilities.
* The ability to work in an inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated and encouraged.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* The ability to work collaboratively and independently.
* Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English.
* Understanding of significant library technologies with a broad understanding of various social media and web 2.0 technologies and their application to library services.
* Experience using Camtasia or other screencasting software is desirable.
**SALARY RANGE**: This is a permanent full time faculty position. This position also includes immediate participation in our comprehensive pension and benefits plan. Our faculty employees enjoy a very generous vacation plan.
