Purpose:
The Department of Philosophy at Santa Clara University, a Catholic, Jesuit University, seeks applicants for three 1-year positions for the 2014-15 academic year to teach 7 courses over 3 quarters. Courses to be taught include: ethics, applied ethics, business ethics. Must also be able to develop a two-quarter Cultures & Ideas sequence. This can focus either on the history of philosophy or on a theme suitable for introducing philosophy to first year students, and must include a significant non-western component in both quarters.Status

Rank and Salary
Academic Year Lecturer, $49,000- 51,800 per year depending on experience; benefits eligible.

Responsibilities
Duties include fulfilling all responsibilities associated with teaching assigned courses, including:

*  Conducting all assigned class meetings and individual conferences with students;
* Assigning and evaluating student work including exams and written assignments;
* Holding weekly office hours on campus;
* Submitting student grades to Student Records by the designated deadline;  
* Fulfilling other instructional or academic duties as may be assigned by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences or the Chair of the Department.
