PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Project Safety Manager administers the safety program and serves as safety advisor, ensuring safety compliance by the project team and all employees and subcontractors working at the site.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Project Safety Manager typical responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Support all safety efforts on the project and promote Gilbane Caressafety culture

Make recommendations concerning the modification, improvement, or removal of any company equipment, facilities, or machinery that is hazardous to employee safety or health

Ensure contractor activities are preplanned for safety through scope review, preconstruction meetings, JHA review, etc.
Ensure contractors meet Gilbane Safety submittal requirements
Ensure contractor compliance to Gilbane safety plan including but not limited to, safety submittals, training and equipment inspection and other documentation (i.e., Substance abuse testing records, etc.)
Ensure project teams perform Safety net inspections per company policy
Administer safety Motivational programs
Provide safety training to project teams on Gilbane, client and OSHA requirements
Investigate all accidents and complete all paperwork required by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) or state regulations
Maintain all safety related documentation
Supervise, coach, mentor and assistant Project Safety Manager
Ensure contractors meet Gilbane safety expectations

Alert managers and employees to the hazards of working with toxic fumes, dangerous chemicals, and any other hazardous substances in the company workplace
Coach project teams in effective hazard identification and correction of issues
Serve as company liaison with OSHA, Insurance carriers and other regulatory agencies

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

Construction Health and Safety Technician credential and advanced safety training
7+ years of construction safety management experience
Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Working knowledge of construction safety principles, techniques and methods
Practical knowledge of OSHA laws, regulations and policies
Capable of identifying known potential exposures and recommending corrective action
Computer skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite
Management, leadership and interpersonal skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills

WORKING CONDITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently or occasionally required to:

Sit, stand or walk
Climb or balance
Stoop, crouch and step over obstacles
Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
Work in outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity
Work in environment with dust, loud noise and/or vibrations
