Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY: Manages the provision of nursing care to the surgical services patient in accordance with the Indiana Nurse Practice Act and established policies, procedures and protocols of the St.Vincent Indianapolis Regional Hospitals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONALS:
1) Assesses the patient in a systematic and organized manner.
2) Formulates nursing diagnoses and develops plan of care.
3) Initiates nursing actions and implements strategies to maximize patient outcomes.
4) Delegates, supervises and/or collaborates with other members of the health care team in the delivery of safe and effective nursing care.
5) Provides education to patient and family members related to their procedure in surgical services.
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
2. Valid Indiana State RN license
3. RN Surgical Services experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
One to two (1-2) years surgical services registered nurse experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Requires critical thinking, organizational, decisive judgment, analytical, problem solving, communications, good customer service skills and the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision. Must be able to handle multiple tasks, be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions as needed.
