DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Manages and provides daily direction and developmental support to corporate finance functions (i.e. general accounting, financial reporting, treasury and capital).

· Accountable for ensuring adequate internal control systems to mitigate financial risks to the hospital.

· Accountable and involved in the oversight of the Business Systems implementation, including thefollowing finance modules: General Ledger, Cash Ledger, and Capital Assets.

· Accountable for all internal financial reports, including: month-end, quarterly reports to executives and other ad hoc financial reports.

· Accountable for external reporting, including quarterly, year-end supplementary WERS, Verification Reports, OCDM, Data Blitz, Priority Funding/Wait Time Funding Survey, Tax Filings, Use of Consultants etc.

· Coordinates and manages financial audits and ensures financial statements are GAAP compliant; audits include but are not limited to: Hospital, Hospital Pension, Grant, HIRF, Family Health Team and HOCC audits.

· Participates in hospital committee as Finance representative, and leads ad hoc projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Undergraduate degree in accounting, professional designation in good standing (CA, CMA or CGA)

· Five to seven years progressive managerial experience in accounting with experience in a hospital or health care environment

· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels within the Hospital, including external stakeholders

· Excellent communication skills (written, presentation and oral)

· Ability to supervise, delegate and motivate team members

· Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with attention to detail

· Ability to operate at a high level of independent thinking

· Resourceful and willing to take initiative
