**Altec Astoria, LLC**
The predecessor to Altec Astoria (Astoria Industries of Iowa, Inc.) was started in Astoria, Illinois in the early 60's. Astoria was the first company to manufacture service truck bodies and truck caps made out of fiberglass. Many of these bodies are still serving their customers today. On September 27, 2013, Altec, Inc. announced the acquisition of assets of Astoria Industries of Iowa.
Altec Astoria builds products for the telecommunications industry, power and gas industry, oil patch, commercial fleets, and government to name a few. Our customers are located worldwide, with Altec Astoria meeting the stringent specifications and requirements set forth by each industry it serves.
Responsibilities
Altec Astoria in Osceola IA has an opening for Technician Assistants.
**Essential Job Tasks **
To assemble fiberglass components combined with other related assembly components to produce a fiberglass utility body.
1. To provide quality and timely workmanship on each job performed.
2. Reads blueprints
3. Reads and understands tape measure.
4. Performs re-work as required.
5. Follows all established safety & quality policies and practices.
6. Learn and follow all work instructions and JQR’s.
7. Prepare and fit multiple components together.
8. Learn and operate all equipment within the department.
9. Support APS initiatives – Lean Manufacturing
10. Willing to move to other areas of production as needed.
Basic Qualifications
* High School Diploma or GED required
* Mechanical assembly experience required
* Ability to read and understand technical documents – ie. Engineering documents, schematics
* Vocational technical school certificate in a manufacturing field preferred
* Experience in the utility industry is preferred.
