Due to a retirement, an outstanding leadership opportunity has become available for the position of Chief Nurse Officer and VP at our Magnet designated Carilion Medical Center campus located in Roanoke, Virginia. The selected candidate will participate as an active member of the executive team, collaborate with Chairs, lead the Nursing Executive Council, comprised of Directors of Nursing throughout the organization, and provide oversight for effective nursing and clinical services delivery at Carilion Medical Center.

A visionary Nurse leader is sought with a drive for optimal quality and service excellence in all areas of patient care. Qualified candidates must have a proven record of nursing leadership in the attainment of national quality benchmarks, and successful change management initiatives for a self sustaining clinical enterprise with effective fiscal and outcomes management. Candidate accomplishments will include improved quality of patient care, optimal patient and employee satisfaction survey results, and operational excellence with the broad usage of protocols, research, and evidenced based practices.

A Master’s degree in health care, nursing, business or related field is required; PhD is preferred.

Ten years demonstrating progressively responsible leadership experience roles in large, complex organizations with automated (EMR) environments within health care, physician practice management, hospital health system or operations management is required. Senior leadership experience in the transition from an acute care model to an integrated continuum of care approach to healthcare delivery, preferably within an ACO. Current RN licensure and active VA license required within thirty days of hire.

Additional qualifications include superior interpersonal qualities with an ability to articulate a vision and influence others in the support of broad objectives and accomplishment of strategic aims. Quickly establish credibility, role model collegiality and respect, and maintain ongoing trusting relationships with physicians, leaders, staff, strategic partners and the community. Excellent communication, mentor, facilitation, multi-disciplinary team building and conflict resolution skills required.
