Parsons is seeking a Systems Engineer to work the in the Columbia, MD area.
Qualifications:
This candidate should have experience as a Linux systems engineer supporting one or two of multiple Linux based platforms. Providing full life cycle support for platforms including receiving and developing requirements, design, software integration and configuration, system automation and scripting, configuration management system policy development, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Depending on the specific platform being supported, additional experience with open source and commercial virtualization solutions or open source IDS / network security monitoring applications will be heavily leveraged. Opportunities exist for performance tuning in virtualized environments as well as building and tuning high-performance hardware / software solutions.
Day-to-day activities require extensive background with installing, configuring and maintaining Redhat Linux systems, ability to script and automate tasks in a variety of languages (bash, perl, python), create / build Redhat packages, and create / modify Puppet policy.
Individuals will be expected to take a leadership role in the team, to include: directing other team members, technical and professional mentoring, architecture development and evolution, strategic planning to pre-position team to meet customer needs, tactical decision making to address dynamic day-to-day issues, synchronizing tactical decisions and resource allocations with strategic goals.
