Job Summary:

Lead employees responsible for day-to-day planning and contractor construction activities for company generated and customer initiated construction projects. Responsible for ensuring that projects are built to DTE Gas standards and that contractor payments are made in a timely manner. Ensures that projects are planned to meet customer need dates and company generated construction schedules. Oversees construction permitting activities. Interfaces with Gas Operations staff to ensure that contractor support resources are allocated in the field. Works with construction planning to ensure that projects are prioritized and planned in accordance with a mutually agreed upon construction schedule. Ensures that projects are being planned and prices are being offered that meet company standards and result in maximum Return on Investment (ROI).

Accountabilities:

*Ensures that Contractors build facilities in accordance with DTE Gas Standards and Procedures.

*Ensures that Contractors maintain appropriate Crew Operator Qualification standards.

*Oversees construction schedules for southeast Michigan and Greater Michigan activities.

*Ensures that construction action plans are kept up to date and communicated to the organization for prioritization of workload.

*Resolves escalated construction project concerns and works with contractors/customers/agencies to identify solutions on construction scheduling.

*Responsible for review of as builts drawings before payment to contractor is approved.

*Works with the construction planning group on technical designs and cost effective installations.

*Works on new materials and new methods of construction practices and technologies.

*Identifies and implements process and procedure changes related to customer generated and company generated processes that result in increased efficiency of overall process.

*Monitors workload of staff to ensure that projects are being planned in accordance with their priority.

*Monitors productivity of staff and makes adjustments on workload if standards are not being met.

*Ensures that resources and territories are balanced to ensure that company generated and customer generated projects are prioritized and executed in the planning process.

*Acts as a liaison between union and management and ensures consistent application of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

*Utilizes Operating System elements to plan, execute and follow through on process operations and improvement.

*Reviews price offers and ensures that staff is pricing in accordance with company policy. Ensures that offers are reviewed in accordance with management approval standards.

*Coordinates required construction activities with other areas.

## Qualifications

Qualifications:

*Six (6) years field/station experience in Gas Distribution/Transmission Operations, Construction support, or Engineering Design, OR Associates Degree in a Business Discipline or Construction Management Program and four (4) years’ experience in Gas Distribution/Transmission Operations, Construction support, or Engineering Design OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Business or other related field, and two (2) years’ experience in Gas Distribution/Transmission Operations, Construction support, or Engineering Design. High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business

*Must have valid driver’s license, and meet Company driving standards

Experience/Demonstrated Knowledge:

*Knowledge of Natural Gas Distribution Standards, Federal/State Gas Safety Code, Distribution and Transmission

*Experience managing multiple projects and dealing with customers

*Proficient in MS Office applications (work management system, crystal reports preferred)
