Job Description
The Sr. Front End Developer will provide leadership in delivering new ways of providing value to Gartner’s clients across multiple channels, including the web, mobile devices, and social streams. Key responsibilities include:
· Solution leadership, hands-on development and support of client-side engineering solutions which deliver outstanding and highly-performing user experience
· Develop cross-product, multi-site front-end architectures and their integrations with other systems (including web services, databases, and content management systems)
· Articulate business issues & solutions; provide regular updates to leadership team and manage communication with the business
· Evaluation, conceptualization, design, and development of major new capabilities and implementation of new technologies
· Drive continuous improvements in performance, scalability, reliability and usability
Job Requirements
Bachelors Degree in CS, Fine Arts, Marketing
5+ years experience building and supporting high-profile, highly interactive, extremely fast customer-facing web and mobile applications
Integrated well-designed front-end architectures with template frameworks and complex back-end data and content management systems
Worked side-by-side with team members in design and engineering to deliver them in highly scalable ways
Extensive experience delivering custom front-end web solutions
Technology requirements include:
· Strong command of essential front-end web technologies including HTML5, CSS, AJAX, DOM Scripting, and W3C DOM methods and properties
· Solid understanding of cross-browser/platform issues and code solutions, as well accessibility and SEO considerations
· Extensive experience working with JavaScript and JS frameworks (like jQuery, Foundation) and with JS micro frameworks (Response, Mustache, Handlebars)
· Extensive experience working with CSS frameworks (like Twitter/Bootstrap, 960gs ) and responsive design libraries
· Knowledge and skills in object-oriented design as applied to user interface development including software design patterns
· Knowledge of web UI architecture and presentation layer technologies such as Jquery, JSP, XHTML, and Freemarker template language
· Understanding and experience with data manipulation technologies such as web services, REST, JSON, SOAP, XSD, and XML
· Experience with developing for mobile form factors and/or progressive enhancement techniques
· Experience with source control management tools such as SVN, or CVS
· Experience working with SQL databases (Oracle knowledge is preferred)
· Knowledge of web security techniques and best practices
· Technology implementation experience in a Java environment
· Strong ability to translate requirements into quick prototypes for iterative user feedback
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written and group presentations)
· Solid understanding of mobile UI design and best practices, application architecture principles (client-side scripting, web service tiers, database storage, caching, etc)
· Experience with native or hybrid mobile app development experience (PhoneGap a plus)
· Knowledge of iOS and Android operating systems and application hooks
· Experience working with portal environments
· Experience using standard development frameworks such as Hibernate, Spring, Struts
· Experience with XML technologies like XSD, XSL, XPATH
· Experience with WordPress
· Experience building 3rd party plug-ins for a JS framework
· Understanding of network and wireless/wifi communication and application protocols
