Job Overview
Position Summary
Working within broad objectives, develops/monitors and identifies/resolves problems regarding the status of CRMDs Strategic and Operating Plan for Technology & Development (area of responsibility). Work requires the application of business knowledge and/or principles/methods normally acquired in a recognized four-year or more academic course of study. Performs financial and trend analysis, and review of operating results. Works on monthly financial closing activities. Reviews proposed project capital for both financial reasonableness and compatibility with the Divisions operating plan to assure adherence to financial objectives. Works on quarterly forecasts for the Divisions Technology & Development expenditures. Recommends, interprets, and implements St. Jude Medical/CRMD specific policies and procedures to accomplish assignments; resolves a broad range of issues and problems. Identifies and routinely uses the most effective, cost efficient and best business practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness. Assists with the strategic direction of the Research & Development (R&D) Financial Planning organization, focusing on customer satisfaction and continuous process improvement. Promotes the process of continuous quality improvement and coordinates solutions for financial documentation and analysis issues. Exercises independent judgment in planning, organizing, and performing work. Reviews the work of other team members for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy/accuracy. Performs special assignments and projects as directed. Assures that quality of services meets internal and external customer and management requirements. Remains current on developments in field(s) of expertise.

Qualifications
Requirements/Education: Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Finance, a related field, or equivalent. Typically a minimum of eight plus years of progressively more responsible financial or budgeting experience in a large, publicly held organization. Seasoned judgment acquired through local organizational experience and achievement in applying state-of-the-art financial/budgeting principles. Requires highly developed leadership skills/experience sufficient to assume the responsibilities of this management position, including the ability to map task interdependencies, prioritize such tasks, and develop, monitor and live within budgets as well as the demonstrated ability to forecast major milestones. Must be skilled at delegation, follow-up, and team building as well as a history of being able to multi-task and meet multiple project schedules on time. Must be able to work cooperatively and productively with others. Advanced evaluation skills, originality and ingenuity are musts as are demonstrated verbal and written analytical/problem solving, communication skills (i.e., English grammar and style), negotiation, interpersonal and presentation skills are essential; the ability to understand and comply with applicable regulations and Company operating procedures, processes, policies, and rules is also required. Documented record of delivering accurate financial information that adds value to managements decision making process. Must be able to demonstrate intermediate personal computer skills including experience with relevant financial systems/applications, financial modeling, word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access). Desired Requirements: An advanced credential in a relevant discipline/concentration, such as a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation or equivalent, is desired. A broad working knowledge of company products and therapies is also desired. Demonstrated familiarity/experience with a Multidimensional Database Management System (MDBMS) such as Hyperion Essbase. Academic or in-house courses in project management, leadership, training, Continuous Improvement (CI), and various technical applications as noted above.
