**Divisional Description:**

This position will be located in the Corporate Division. Corporate provides centralized service and support to Transamerica's operating companies. Service units include corporate accounting, actuarial, audit, benefits, business development, compliance, information technology, law and tax.

**Responsibilities:**

Supports Market Consistent reporting valuation, research and analysis. Coordinates Liability Data Warehouse development. Leads a small team of Actuarial Students.

* Coordinates, prepares, and performs actuarial analyses to develop pricing strategies, new business reporting, and valuation approach or risk management strategies used under the Economic Framework. Will work with business units to review and analyze results, provide guidance and support in reporting results.

* Develops actuarial assumptions to use in pricing, reserving or actuarial modeling, including experience studies in support of assumptions used in Market Consistent valuation.

* Prepares actuarial portion of Market Consistent financial reports or other documents (e.g. state insurance department filings, rating agency survey forms, internal management reports, etc.).

* Communicates actuarial research results to business unit management.

* May develop, maintain and document computer-based programs, Sarbanes-Oxley procedures and model validation.

* Maintains documentation of actuarial research and analyses.

* Provides consultation and clarification on Market Consistent actuarial models and risk issues.

* Coordinates scenario needs for Market Consistent reporting

* Coordinates and oversees Liability Data Warehouse development and direction

* Coordinates and directs special actuarial projects.

* May supervise one or more Actuarial Analysts, Actuarial Students or Actuarial Technicians.

**Qualifications:*

* (There is currently 1 opening in this department. The candidate will be hired as an Assistant Actuary Level 4 or an Associate Actuary Level 3, based upon qualifications, skills and organizational needs. Please see the qualifications for each listed below.)*

* Assistant Actuary (Level 4) Qualifications:**

Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field and 5 years of relevant experience. In lieu of Bachelor's, will accept Master's in a listed discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. ASA or equivalent professional designation required. Must be an active participant in the Actuarial Student Program, taking additional exams towards FSA. Demonstrates high judgment, organization and prioritization skills. Effectively communicates, both verbally and in writing, advanced mathematical and analytical concepts to various audiences. Works well under pressure and within time constraints to effectively accomplish individual and team objectives. Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Essbase tools, Hyperion, Clarity and Liability Data Warehouse. Programming skills preferred. Normal office environment. Limited travel may be required.

**Associate Actuary (Level 3) Qualifications:**

FSA or equivalent professional designation along with Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field and 6 years of relevant experience. In lieu of Bachelor's, will accept Master's in a listed discipline and 4 years of relevant experience. In lieu of FSA will accept ASA or equivalent professional designation and 10 years of relevant experience. Demonstrates high quality leadership, judgment, organization and prioritization skills. Effectively communicates, both verbally and in writing, advanced mathematical and analytical concepts to various audiences. Works well under pressure and within time constraints to effectively accomplish individual and team objectives. Excellent computer skills. Knowledge of Essbase tools, Clarity, Hyperion and Liability Data Warehouse. Programming skills preferred. Normal office environment. Limited travel may be required.
