Qualifications/Duties
Full Time: 36 hours per week
Friday, Saturday and Sunday 6:45am-7:15pm
Minimum Education Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program.
Minimum Licensure / Certification Requirements:
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
Completion of competency assessment.
Successful completion of BLS within 30 days of hire.
Minimum Experience Requirements:
Previous CST experience preferred
Minimum Skill Requirements:
A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment; knowledge of surgical technology.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides care according to standards of care
- Prioritizes care
- Performs technical procedures safely, proficiently, and within scope of practice
- Adapts care measures to reflect age specific and
developmental considerations.
- Follows hand washing and infection control guidelines
- Performs surgical scrub according to policy.
- Verifies correct sterilization method is utilized for specific instruments and equipment.
- Performs procedure for time-out, including confirmation of correct patient, correct site and correct
- Performs accurate sharp, sponge and instrument counts at appropriate times with documentation.
- Laboratory/pathology specimens labeled correctly on surgical field.
- Verifies with RN proper medication dosages, uses appropriate route.
- Labels all medication(s) on sterile field.
- Assists with environmental sanitation in OR suites.
- Demonstrates cooperative relationship by showing willingness to support team members.
- Willing and assisting team member.
- Utilizes positive, one-on-one, first party communication.
- Participates in training and orientation of Patient Care Associates, Certified Surgical Tech, and students of Healthcare disciplines.
- Follows/accepts scheduling guidelines.
- Uses time card to punch in and out correctly and consistently.
- Accepts or negotiates changes to assignment to facilitate delivery of quality care.
- Stock rooms to make clean and ready for new patients.
- Return equipment to appropriate storage area.
- Answers pages for room turnover and/or patient lifting assistance when not assigned to specific OR suite.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
