As part of the Compass, Unilever’s vision is to double the size of its Deodorant business by 2017. As the largest producer of Deodorants in Unilever’s global network, the Leeds SU is key to supporting this ambition, and perfect Quality is at the heart of everything we do.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the SU Quality team for the role of Packing Quality Leader. Reporting to the Quality & Innovation manager, and leading a team of technicians/improvement technicians, the Packing Quality Leader will lead the Operational and Supplier Quality agendas on site, managing the Quality relationship with packaging suppliers and also acting as first point of contact for Quality with operational teams.
The Packing Quality Leader will support the leadership team to drive the quality performance and awareness on the site at an operational level and lead projects to improve Quality in top loss areas. They will also support the Site Quality and Innovation Manager to develop strategic improvement plans and management programmes and be responsible for the site Quality management systems ensuring full compliance with ISO 9001. The role involves close liaison with Logistics, Category Quality, Suppliers and Unilever MSOs/MCOs.
Skills/ Experience/ Qualifications:
• Educated to degree (or equivalent) level, preferably in a technical subject.
• Able to demonstrate a good awareness of how Aerosol and Roll-on packaging materials are manufactured, and have knowledge of the Quality issues that can be experienced as a result of these processes.
• Experience in leading teams.
• A highly motivated individual, who is capable of managing and prioritising a challenging workload with minimal supervision.
• Experience in the application of TPM problem-solving tools, e.g. PDCA, FI, PM analysis etc. to engineering issues.
• Previous manufacturing experience is essential
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Well-developed IT skills
• Any experience with Minitab would be an advantage
