Description

JOB PURPOSE:
Works collaboratively with IAH staff to manage the development and delivery of Health Education to the community at large through group setting and one-on-one assessment and education. The goals of IAH Health Education projects are managing health and promoting independence.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS:
Defines, identifies, develops, organizes and delivers Health Education projects by conducting needs assessments, establishing priorities, designing, implementing and then evaluating health education programs, protocols and standards.

Designs and formats materials in a manner consistent with national guidelines addressing low vision, the use of plain language, and health literacy.

Develops policies and protocols related to client and caregiver Health Education.

Generates and implements health education marketing materials and communications in conjunction with IAH Management, Marketing and quality initiatives. Establishes effective processes for managing and fulfilling requests from IAH staff and the community for new materials, activities and communications.

Provides an ongoing collaborative review of health education materials to ensure materials are timely, reflect best medical guidance and serve a diverse population.

Facilitates organization-wide cultural sensitivity by presenting education, trainings and technical assistance on health literacy.

Provides scheduling and logistical support, and facilitates the use of community services to promote delivery of health education services.

Provides direct group or one-to-one health education services to clients, caregivers and the public using IAH/SCAN approved content, guidelines and materials.

Prepares reports, grants, proposals, and documentation, as assigned.

Adheres to all quality, compliance and regulatory standards to achieve IAH and SCAN outcomes.

Actively supports the achievement of SCAN and IAH's Vision and Goals.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing and contributing to professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree in public health or Registered Nurse preferred.

MCHES (Master Certified Health Education Specialist) or CHES (Certified Health Education Specialist) certification strongly preferred.

2+ years of experience in health education.

Proficiency in a second language preferred.

Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects.

Demonstrated public speaking skills.

Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent written and communication skills.

Knowledge of and experience with social services, caregivers and older adult populations.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Visio and Desktop Publishing Software.

CONDITIONS OF WORK:
Office Hours: Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm. Extended work hours as needed.

Maintain valid driver's license, automobile insurance and reliable transportation.
