Job Description

Extend Gartner's research program of study, analysis, writing, peer reviews, publishing and presenting on the subject of Web strategies and technologies: the modern web of HTML5 standards and mobile web, and web architecture, intranets, extranets, portals, user-experience (UX), Web applications and software as a service (SaaS). As time permits, research SOA, WOA, website governance and resource management. Impress Gartner's IT and vendor clients with the quality of your research publications and presentations, and support Gartner's global sales force especially in EMEA at sales meetings and Gartner's conferences.

Perform high quality—per clients's feedback—and timely—per agreed schedules—research and analysis into technology, people and process topics in web strategies that begin with requirements definition and continue through production delivery and site operation.

The successful candidate's research will focus on web strategies such as metrics, organizational practices, and the range of portal solutions. The candidate analyst will guide Gartner's management clients in the successful build and operation of their websites and intra/extranets.

· Perform research by reading, networking with IT clients, reviewing vendors, evaluating technologies and software products, and discussing issues with peers.

· Participate in research meetings and events that constitute Gartner's research program.

· Provide insightful analyses that may include triangulation, pattern recognition, and experience.

· Answer IT clients' and vendors' telephoned and email inquiries about analyst's research subjects.

· Support Gartner's conferences and events with high quality presentations: content and delivery.

· Create the required quantity, quality and timeliness of written research (e. g. research notes, strategic analysis reports, Magic Quadrants, and flashes) in fulfillment of Gartner's commitment to its clients.

· Meet IT clients and prospective clients at clients' sites with sales professionals. Demonstrate the strength of Gartner's research.

· Consult with IT and vendor clients during one, two, or three day engagements to help them better understand their market trends, products functionality requirements and positioning.

· Provide IT clients with custom guidance that includes reviews of client's documents and presentations.

· Stay current with market developments by reviewing viable vendors to understand the value of their products and service offerings.

Job Requirements

The candidate must have 8+ years as a Web computing leader who earned their leadership role by designing, developing and delivering modern websites, preferably for major corporations. In addition, the successful candidate will be an excellent analyst, writer, speaker and commentator who commands an audience through succinct and compelling explanations of complex concepts that executives can readily grasp.

· Ideally, the candidate's experience includes:

o Design, build and manage a modern, multi- channel and device web property that employed application servers, portals, and databases as web-oriented architecture (WOA).

o Manage teams of web professionals.

o Employ portal technologies: HTLM5, CSS3 and open soclial architecture, implementation and operation.

o Use internets and extranets to deliver business solutions.

o Select and implement cloud computing solutions.

· The incumbent be credible as an articulate advisor to senior managers of IT organizations and IT vendors. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate:

o Deep understanding of web computing concepts including portlets, web architecture, HTML5 standards, WOA and SOA.

o Knowledge of portal and web technology vendors.

· Optionally, the candidate may have acquired the above experience while as a product manager for a IT vendor or as an investment analyst.

· The ideal candidate is multi-lingual: a Germanic language, French, Scandinavian language, or Slavic language or Russian.

· Finally, the candidate must have a bachelor's degree in a related field; a masters degree is preferred.
