Ethicon, Inc., a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies is currently recruiting for a Production Mechanic. This position will initially be located in Cornelia, GA and eventually transition to Athens, GA.

The Production Mechanic - A Shift will operate all portable power tools and hand tools in assigned production area, drills, wrenches, grinders and meters to troubleshoot and repair production equipment and measuring instruments (i.e. calipers, vacuum gauges). Read and work from detailed wiring diagrams, machine blueprints and pipe layout diagrams. Participate in and work with a production team environment. Receive direction from team members and production/engineering supervisor/facilitator. Work with limited direction in effectively diagnosing problems and repairing the equipment in a timely manner. Work towards effectively managing deadlines in completing breakdown, maintenance, and project activities. Make critical decisions under pressure on breakdowns. Operate basic Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs) on production equipment. Associates in this position are required to be on call” as defined in the On Call Policy” and the Fair labor Standards Act and are required by management to respond to emergency or essential work situations on established departmental schedules. Effectively manage Work Order creation and completion in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

The Production Mechanic will also perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/facilitator. Perform preventative maintenance on all production equipment in area assigned according to the schedule, keeping neat and correct records. Make general decisions on equipment operation and breakdowns. Determine necessary tools and material requirements for specific assignments. Interface with appropriate manufacturing representatives to ensure manufacturing operations and projects receive effective technical support. Follow current compliance regulations and standards to include Job Safety Analyses (JSAs). Support Plant diversity process. Comply with all federal regulated programs. Adhere to FDA quality and worldwide quality systems. Perform work in a safe manner, as well as, keeping equipment clean and in safe working condition.

Qualifications
A minimum of a High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent required. Additional training (e.g. Georgia Work Ready) preferred. A minimum of 2 years of electrical/electronic or mechanical/technical school training, military training or work experience is preferred. A minimum of 18 months of industrial maintenance experience or technical school training is required. Experience working in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) or other regulated environment preferred. Basic computer skills required. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal relation skills. Must have strong statistical and analytical problem solving skills. Technical troubleshooting skills required. General knowledge of basic hand and power tools required. Basic math skills, with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute percentages and work with fractions and decimals, required. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and manufacturing processes (i.e. Just in Time (JIT), KANBAN, Pull Systems) preferred. Must be self-directed with the ability to work with minimal technical supervision. The ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds unaided as well as handle activities such as bending, stooping, standing, pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching and walking are required. Must be able to work a rotating 12 hour day shift (A Shift) (7:00 am - 7:00 pm), which will include alternating weekends. The ability to work occasional overtime and some holidays is required.
