Job Description

Safety Professional, Senior
The Senior Safety Professional is responsible to intergrate with an experienced team of fire and life saftey professionals to deliver corporate services to the Naval Reactors program Department of Energy sites. Specifically,
·        Review and develop Naval Reactors, Department of Energy, International Code Council, National Fire Protection Association and OSHA requirements. Develop BMPC compliant requirements for facility and equipment design to address fire protection, life safety, and industrial safety and health hazards.
·        Research, write, coordinate and support site implementation of corporate fire protection and life safety design, operations and maintenance standards.
·        Provide technical guidance on facility life safety and hazardous materials control design aspects to site fire protection, facility design, and construction staff. Provide consistent code and standard interpretations to regulatory standards and corporate fire protection and life safety requirements. Support site and corporate fire protection engineers with reviews of fire hazard analyses.
·        Provide technical guidance on fire safety human element programs (e.g. hot work, fire prevention programs, etc.) to site operations and maintenance staff.
·        Conduct or participate in a range of field surveillances to maintain a high degree of awareness of existing facility conditions and operations to support the development and site implementation of both facility fire protection and life safety design and fire prevention programs.
·        Develop communications and training materials to increase and sustain knowledge of both the fire protection and design communities in fire protection, life safety, and hazardous materials regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

* BS degree in technical or science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of relevant experience; or
* MS degree in technical or science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience.
* Experience in regulatory analysis with demonstrated ability to read, comprehend, and interpret an extensive set of regulatory requirements derived from multiple sources.
·        Experience with facility life safety requirements based on either NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, or the International Building and Fire Codes.
·        Experience with the federal or state OSHA requirements impacting facility and equipment design.
·        Working knowledge of fire code requirements based on NFPA 1, Fire Code, or the International Fire Code.
·        Working knowedge of the NFPA codes and standards.
 
Preferred Skills

·        Multi-site or corporate program experience

·        Building Code (International Code Council)-based fire protectionand life safety background

·        Knowledgable in Highly Protected Risk (HPR) facility design and human element programs

·        Industrial or municipal emergency response background

·        Fire protection system design or inspection, test and maintenance
