Auto req ID 3255BR Title News Photojournalist Job Description Purpose of Position: Covers general news assignments in a fast paced news environment using electronic camera and editing equipment; applying techniques appropriate to each story. Works independently or in tandem with a reporter gathering visual content and editing it for nightly newscasts, special reports and live events on air and on-line. Essential Duties of Position: Shoot news video that accurately and fairly represents news events. Edit video and audio for broadcast, on-line, promotions and teases Tell stories with pictures and natural sound. Edit with non-linear edit system in a timely manner and not miss news slot. Archive videos. Respond quickly to breaking news situations. Participate in story selection process and story development. Communicate with reporters, writers, and producers on video needed for news stories Properly maintain camera, editing equipment and station vehicle Attend regular critique and training sessions. Observe all safety guidelines in-house and in public. Perform other duties as assigned. Work evenings, holidays and weekends as needed. Ingest and edit news video from network and other sources. Prepare video and video stories for web team. Communicate with web team and producers during breaking news situations. Manage story space in video servers and maintain a photo library. Take still photos on news scenes for web dissemination. Follow clothing and appearance guidelines. Work in a cooperative fashion with all other newsroom personnel. Job Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to shoot and edit high quality video with HD equipment Ability to light interview subjects in a professional manner Ability to operate non-linear edit equipment on a regular and recurring basis Ability to gather interviews and information without a reporter Ability to communicate effectively and cooperatively with reporters, producers and news Management Ability to use news related software, such as ENPS Ability to foster a positive work environment Understanding and ability to follow Radio Television Digital News Association (RTNDA) code of ethics and station guideline. Must have working knowledge of ENG trucks Must be able to operate station vehicles and follow all state laws Knowledge of lighting and ability to produce nat sound pieces Ability to turn stories on a tight deadline without floating story Ability to use social media outlets for story promotion and public interaction Ability to work with minimal supervision Must have attention to detail Must be technically astute, highly organized and have a reputation for meeting deadlines Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to follow NPPA standards Technical: Knowledge of HD camera operation Knowledge of non-linear edit systems for purpose of reviewing footage Knowledge of AP ENPS newsroom computer system Knowledge of MS Office and other common office tools software required Ability to utilize 3 point lighting techniques Ability to understand and quickly apply new technology People Skills: Strong verbal communication skills, particularly in the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and the public Must be able to reconcile divergent demands of multiple parties under tight timelines Proven ability to collaborate within and outside assigned department and create an effective working environment for high traffic and/or potentially stressful workloads Excellent active listening skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical staff required Self directed and takes the initiative on issues affecting the organization Facilitate a positive team experience for team members Neat, clean, professional appearance Years of Experience required t
