Responsibilities:
The Digital Modular Radio (DMR) team is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with experience in software-defined radios and digital waveform development. Senior Electrical Engineers design and develop cutting-edge communications systems, waveforms, applications, and infrastructure that support the DMR system. This position requires an individual to support both new and existing development activities.
A Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for deriving requirements, adding features to current designs, creating new designs and developing applications implementing these requirements.
Qualifications:
Because this is a Government Contract, you must be a U.S. Citizen for consideration.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a related field, or the equivalent experience required. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required, 12 years is preferred.
Candidates should have extensive knowledge and experience in several of the following:
Satellite communications-related products and technologies
Communications waveform transmitter/receiver design
oDigital modulation/demodulation (CPM, PSK, QAM, AM, FM, etc.)
oSymbol and frame synchronization
oEncoding/decoding (e.g. convolutional, Reed-Solomon, etc.)
oFIR/IRR/CIC filter design and development including multi-rate filtering
oChannel estimation and equalization
oAGC and signal conditioning
oDetection and acquisition
oMultiple-access techniques (TDMA, etc.)
oChannel and hardware/RF impairments emulation
oFixed- and floating-point design and development
oNon-linear amplifier distortion and compensation
oZero-IF and heterodyne receiver architectures
oSystem Requirements Analysis
oSystem Architecture and Design
oRF analysis and trouble-shooting
oBit-level data analysis
oSignal-to-noise, acquisition and BER performance validation
Additional Experience/Responsibilities:
Design and implement a test waveform from requirements to production
Reuse MUOS TX Chip FPGA modules as appropriate to generate a notched wide-band test signal
Use a system-provided model to implement a frequency-domain analysis of a wide-band MUOS-like RX signal
Provide factory support
Interface with software design and development
Assess third party and open source software
Experience with Altera FPGAs
Proficient programming experience in VHDL
Ability to use lab equipment (emulators, O-scopes, logic analyzers, comm analyzers)
Knowledge of software process and SEI/CMMI levels
Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting on FPGAs
Must communicate well and work with several different engineering functional areas
Must have good presentation, documentation and writing skills
Candidate should possess the following:
Experience with Altera FPGAs
Proficient programming experience in VHDL
Ability to use lab equipment (emulators, O-scopes, logic analyzers, comm analyzers)
Knowledge of software process and SEI/CMMI levels
Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting on FPGAs
Must communicate well and work with several different engineering functional areas
Must have good presentation, documentation and writing skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Ten (10) or more years of experience in FPGA engineering
Eight (8) years of experience with MUOS FPGA Transmit
Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer reviews;
Experience with the IBM Rational suite of software tools
Experience with the DMR platform
Experience with PCI
