We have an excellent opportunity for a *Functional Support Specialist,* providing various types of education and academic support to the directors and teachers of the schools in the Pearson Network of Differentiated Support. This support enables Pearson to implement intervention models that improve school performance.
This role requires someone with high energy, empathy, excellent communication skills, solid organizational abilities, and prior experience with education. One must have experience with the Department of Education of Puerto Rico in the areas of administration, teaming, academia, standards-based instruction, or site-based technical support. Candidates being considered must have 5+ years of highly successful experience in the K12 industry as well as relationship management skills. Preference will be given to candidates who have deep and encompassing K-12 administration experience, a comparable leadership/managerial role in private industry, or deep subject matter knowledge.

**Responsibilities**
*Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to: *
* Facilitate meetings with school and district leadership that establishes Pearson’s partnership with the school and initiates the process of implementation
* Facilitate face-to-face professional development for school leadership, faculty, support staff
* Coordinate onsite strategic planning and review meetings with the Director
* Support of the development of a data-driven culture within the school
* Assist with Progress Monitoring meetings to determine the progress the school is making
* Provide technical support for the effective operation of school administration
* Utilize Cycle of Feedback effectively to articulate and identify change of practice in teaching, learning, curriculum and leadership
* Collaborate with other Coordinators and the Project Management Office (also known as the Red de Apoyo Diferenciado) in the delivery of technical support
* Maintain comprehensive documentation and reports to demonstrate completion of duties
* Provide strategic interpretation/utilization of student achievement data driving instructional improvement, including the use of formative assessment and analysis of state test results
* Offer coaching and follow up to teachers and school directors
* Organize and coordinate services offered in school sites
* Offer academic workshops
* Complete administrative tasks as required by contractual commitment
* Timely and accurate submissions for all required evidences of coaching documentation scanned into DEPR “Platform”
* Timely and accurate Human Resource Timesheet and Expense Reimbursement reporting
**Qualifications**
*Required experience will include:*
* Demonstrated success as a School Director, Project Lead, SIG Coordinator, Academic Coach, Education Specialist, or equivalent and at least five (5) years of successful experience in the K12 industry, either as a K-12 administrator or equivalent leadership role in private industry
* Experience with the administrative processes of the DEPR
* Experience with data driven decision making
* Excellent organizational and communication skills
* Strong ability to build confidence and high performing teams by offering growth opportunities or responsibilities to all team members
* Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including status reporting and escalation of issues
* Excellent organizational skills and management of team priorities
* Technical competence in school improvement methodologies
* Clear performance expectations including rewarding and recognizing excellent team work and providing performance feedback
* Applicants must be able to commute on a daily basis to the San Juan metropolitan area of Puerto Rico
*Desirable knowledge, skills, and experience include:*
* Experience as a school principal or district level leader in curriculum and instruction
* Manager in private industry for 5 years
* Project Management planning to include monitoring of delivery of contractual requirements for realization of contract revenue
* Professional fluency in reading, writing, speaking and understanding in both Spanish and English
* Effective management of technology tools
* Supervision and management experience to include team building, performance reviews, assignment of duties and responsibilities and monitoring of team delivery
