*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*

The Associate Counselor is responsible for providing program psycho-education, aftercare planning, family therapy, and creating client task/home work. They are also  responsible for maintaining the stability, communication and structure between primary therapists, treatment team and clients.

*Overall CLINICAL DUTIES:*

1. Responsible for providing psycho-educational lectures, processing clinical experiences, 1:1 support to clients and family.

2. Provides client orientation and introduction to programs.

3. Oversees transfers, administrative, and therapeutic discharges

4. Provides clinical support, as needed, to admission and marketing team for the timely completion of initial clinical evaluations and insurance pre-certifications where needed.

5. Attends weekly clinical staffing groups

6. Helps to provide and integrate family therapy

7. Intervenes and assists with clients as needed (individual therapy, crisis intervention, ATA risk, special needs, etc.)

8. Maintains and upholds program and systemic policy, procedures and clinical protocols

9. Collaborates with Directors indicated above on program enhancements and program development

*CLINICAL DUTIES as Associate Counselor*

1. Provides daily psycho-education and educational processing for all assigned Journey’s clients.

2. Provides and oversees task/writing groups

3. Attends clinical team meetings.

4. Provides clinical documentation

5. Provides support to online staff/milieu.

6. Provides lectures and task work where needed.

7. Facilitates multi-disciplinary treatment planning and updates for assigned clients (ensures inclusion of all treatment modalities/ disciplines)

8. Group education, and meetings per program schedule

9. Provides family/conjoint therapy

10. Coordination of all treatment services needed for assigned client case load

*ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:*

1. Keeps senior management immediately advised of any and all client/program concerns related to SAID.

2. Participates in Quality Improvement groups (as assigned)

3. Interface with assigned clients insurance, managed care companies, EAPs for treatment  planning and concurrent review -upon request

4. Facilitates ancillary services/community referrals for all SAID clients (including coordination of transportation with residential supervisor)

5. Oversees the client/pass process.

6. Participates in in-service training, individual/group supervision meetings, and counselor/residential staff interface meeting.

7. Communicates with residential staff via communication book and client's record to maximize utilization of milieu in supporting the client's treatment plan

8. Ensures client records for assigned case load are comprehensive, complete, neat and meet licensing standards.

9. Facilitates legal commitments with client case load (includes coordinating transportation with Activities/Operations Manager)licensing standards

10. Provide supervisor with a weekly QA report

11. Participates in alumni, outreach and referral source events pertinent to the facility and program when possible

*MARKETING DUTIES:*

1. Actively participate in marketing efforts coordinated by marketing department including but not limited to: tours, providing CNE / CEU lectures, public face of SAID, public lectures, media interface upon request

2. Organize and participate in alumni programming as appropriate.

3. Accompanies marketers on appropriate marketing opportunities where needed and possible.

4. Other duties as assigned

*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:*

* *

Experienced working with chemical dependency and co-occuring disorders, close familiarity with the 12-step model required. Solid skills at building a client/clinician relationship, ability to manage clients with rapidly shifting emotional/need states, intervene on client challenges. Good communication, social and team building skillset aloing with previous counseling experience required.

*REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:*

* *

*Master’s level intern position (completed school, requiring clinical hours toward licensure) *LACSW, LAMFT or LAC intern(s), or PhD Post-Doc or LISAC to be considered, master’s preferable*. *Abiltiy to provide lectures/psycho-education, aftercare planning and case management required.

*PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:*

* This position may require the person to work irregular hours including occasional evenings and weekends.

* Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within the metropolitan area.

* Communicates orally with management, co-workers and the public in face-to face, one-to-one, and group settings.

* Regularly uses a telephone for communication.

* Uses office equipment such as computer terminals, copiers, and Fax machines.

* Sits for extended time periods.

* Hearing and vision within normal ranges.

* Occasionally required to stand and walk.
