Department Overview: PHARMACY Work Location: St. Joseph's Hospital Contract: Non-contract Job Category: Pharmacy Specific Area of Interest: City: St Paul Shift: Night Authorized Hours - Minimum: Per Two Weeks 80 Authorized Hours - Maximum: Per Two Weeks Work Hours: Work Hours/Schedule (For Example: 7:00am-3:30pm or Every other weekend) Varies between shifts of 9PM-7AM and 10:30PM-8:30AM. Primary Function: .and. Major Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the pharmacist, assists the pharmacist by performing pharmacy job duties associated with medication procurement, preparation, and distribution. Performs the duties of inpatient medication delivery systems according to department policies and procedures and regulatory agencies. Prepares sterile products (both non-hazardous and hazardous where applicable), using appropriate aseptic technique, according to department procedures and regulatory agencies (USP 797). Performs duties of the outpatient prescription services, where provided, according to policy and all regulatory agencies. Performs bulk compounding and packaging duties as assigned to ensure an uninterrupted supply of medication. Ensures compliance with USP 795 guidelines. Performs floor stock and ADC restocking duties according to department procedures to ensure the quality and appropriate quantity of medications stocked. Assists site Pharmacy Buyer Senior Pharmacy Technician, and other technicians as requested. Maintains neat and clean work area to promote patient safety and infection control. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job to ensure appropriate maintenance of all privacy related issues. Performs all other related duties as requested to meet departmental needs. Qualifications: Qualifications: Registered with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician Certified pharmacy technician (CPhT) preferred. Education: Minimum high school graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an ASHP accredited pharmacy technician training program or equivalent combination of Education and Experience preferred. Experience: Hospital pharmacy experience preferred. Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good communication skills; Ability to work independently; Basic writing, reading, and math skills; Attention to detail; Knowledge of and ability to use computer; Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all age groups (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric) served by the Department of Pharmacy. Knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span. Ability to assess data reflective of the patient s status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient s needs in relation to age, and provide the care needed as described in the Pharmacy Policies .and.
