VCU Health System is recruiting for
Rehab Technician
in the Cardiac Rehab Department
(Main Hospital, 10th floor)
The chief objective of this position and age group(s) to be served (if applicable):
The Rehab Technician is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care to patients served under the direction and supervision ofa licensed Therapist or Therapist Assistant.The Rehab Tech is expected to monitor the patient's response to activities and report patient's response to the therapist. Other duties include general departmental maintenance, cleaning of equipment, stocking of linens, monitoring of temperatures and functions of equipment and other duties as directed by the manager.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Preferred for Hire
Valid driver s license and acceptable driver s recordpreferred
CNA Certificationpreferred
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment including CPR, etc.
Current driver s license and acceptable driver s record required to drive Rehab Van
Level and type of experience Preferred
Previous experience working with rehab patients
Previous work experience in a hospital/clinic setting
Education/training REQUIRED
High School graduate or equivalent

The Rehab Tech is responsible for patient care delivery under the direct supervision of aTherapist orTherapist Assistant. These non-skilled services are not to be considered the provision of Occupational or Physical Therapy services. This employee must be dependable and responsible in delivery of quality patient care and also to those activities that indirectly contribute to patient care. The employee must have effective communication skills, especially one-on-one. They must demonstrate a willingness and ability to work with any patient type. A Rehab Tech must be able to judge the patients response to treatment and report this back to the therapist. Their actions must be coordinated with co-workers. The Rehab Technician must demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn skills necessary for job functions.
Describe supervisory responsibilities
No direct responsibilities for supervision of employees. May have responsibilities for supervision of volunteers. Employee will function as a member of a self-directed team and be expected to help problem solve clinic operations with their co-workers. Unresolved problems will be forwarded to administrative manager for assistance in resolution.
Additional position requirements such as shift rotations, weekends, environment, etc.
Clinic hours range between 7 AM and 7 PM Monday through Friday. Employee could be responsible for some evening work when clinics are open and be responsible for working weekends assisting the therapists in acute care or inpatient rehabilitation.
