This position is located in the Office of the Chief Information Officer and reports directly to the Associate CIO for Technology and Innovation.

A successful candidate in this position will serve as the Geospatial Information Officer (GIO),providing leadership and management of geospatialdata and technology policy development, budget, and programs. He/she will provide leadership,advice, and guidance in fostering collaborations across DOE to achieve efficient and effective geospatial guidance and policies that integrate diverse program activities and enable better mission outcomes. See "Other Information" section regarding Selective Service requirements. **As an IT Specialist, you will:**

* Serve as the principal advisor to the Associate CIO for Technology and Innovationon cross cutting program matters related to all aspects of geospatial information technology policy, programs and technology.
* Provide strategic planning, development and coordination of Department-wide geospatial standards, policy, programs and technology.
* Provide technical leadership over the management, design and configuration of the Department's geospatial enterprise architecture.
* Provide leadership in the development, implementation and management of a geospatial planning and reporting capability, supported within the Department, to improve business performance of geospatial activities, help ascertain and prioritize geospatial business and management needs, and reduce the need for data calls.
* Represent the Department in interagency meetings regarding geospatial issues and initiatives.
* Work closely with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to ensure alignment with national geospatial initiatives under its purview.
For this position education cannot be substituted for experience. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR THIS VACANCY:

Eligible candidates for this position must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance. The duties and responsibilities of this position require that the incumbent have access to documents and/or material containing Secret Restricted Data which are related to sensitive issues. Therefore, the position demands the highest degree of public trust and requires that the incumbent possess a DOE "Q" Clearance.

This position has also been designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to testing for illegal drug use. The selectee must test negative prior to being appointed to this position and will be subject to random testing thereafter. Failure to pass or refusal to take subsequent tests could result in non- selection or disciplinary action, up to and including removal from the Federal service.
