Summary:

Major Responsibilities:

Responsible for the negotiation and management of chemical and plastic commodities specifically designated within the scope of Company policy. Responsible as designated for worldwide purchasing, creation and maintenance of synergies between all sites. Evaluates new suppliers along with Engineering, Quality and Regulatory to select strategic partners worldwide. Understands global trade, the need for constant change and identification of emerging technologies.

Essential Responsibilities:

* Identify and evaluates suppliers globally to assure quality, pricing and supply to all sites involved.

* Responsible for maintaining supplier performance along with Site Purchasing Coordinators

* Ability to successfully negotiate international and domestic contracts.

* Initiation of consignment and safety stock programs

* Initiates multi-year cost savings programs, recognizing how material and manufacturing cost affect total cost

* Capturing and reporting monthly cost savings programs.

* Work with financial analyst to assure all cost reduction programs are compliant with and take into account all aspects of internal and external costs

* Understands how global economies affect total costs, ability to speak to emerging trends, identify “problem” areas.

* Responsible for any tooling negotiations and programs associated with their commodity.

* Achieve aggressive annual PPV, MCP, and inventory targets at Kerr / Metrex

* Kerr / Metrex material cost reduction funnel-building, execution, and achievement of stretch targets

* Optimize the supply base through supplier consolidation efforts to Danaher Preferred suppliers

* Leverage best sourcing practices, including funnel management, eAuctions, and Danaher Preferred Suppliers

* Lead cross-site savings projects, monitoring progress and driving implementation

Education / Experience :

* *Bachelor’s degree in related field, Supply Management, Engineering, Operations management. Technical background in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry field is preferred*.

* Minimum 5 years experience in Purchasing environment, including strategic sourcing and overseas supplier management experience in the chemical/plastics arena.

* Specific commodity experience relating to the procurement globally of raw chemicals in both liquid and solid formats. These include government controlled chemicals which require monitoring for compliance. Candidate must have experience with locating and qualifying comparable chemicals in order to improve manufacturing and reduce overall costs.

* Successful candidate must have experience in both manufactured and naturally mined chemicals, including, but not limited to, petroleum based products, gypsum, dyes, ethanol and Isopropyl Alcohol

Skills / Abilities:

* Must be able to monitor and project market driven commodity chemical performance and understand how economic and political issues drive commodity costs.

* Candidate requires experience in an FDA, EPA or healthcare field in order to understand the chemicals needed for meeting specific regulatory requirements. Must have participated or directed validation of chemical suppliers to meet governmental compliance.

* Candidate must be able to assist in finding suppliers that meet global requirements for Green partners as well as compliance within specific Asian and European countries for GMP.

* Project management skills

* Excellent verbal and written skills

* Ability to interact with upper management, as well as in a team environment that includes global partners.

* Ability to travel between 25-35% or more.

* Proven cost reduction program experience, can talk to specifics on how, what, when and where.

* Understanding of general finance, make/buy analysis, ability to analyze all costs associated with purchasing, transportation, tariffs, duties, material costs, SG & A.

* Ability to read and interpret blueprints and chemical specification sheets.

* ERP systems experience (Oracle preferred), computer proficiency in Excel, Word, Project.

* Understanding of total supplier management including, GMP, rationalization, quality parameters, on time delivery.

* Understanding of a dynamic environment, ability to work with constant change and be self directed.

* Basic understanding of the legalities of ethical purchasing behaviors, and ability to work with legal on assuring those aspects.
