We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Cytology Technologist for Bellevue. To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree from an approved clinical laboratory technologist program or the substantial equivalent or a Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education or a Bachelor's Degree in the major of biology, chemistry or physical sciences from an accredited college or university with a minimum of three years of experience in a similar laboratory including previous supervisory experience and a NYS Cytotechnologist license from the Office of the Professions, or hold a limited permit as CLT that will lead to such license. The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in in-service and continuing education events and assisting in developing and evaluating new procedures or equipment; maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of policies and procedures within the scope of practice and responding to, or initiating changes to enhance patient care, quality service, efficient use of resources or procedures or systems that improve patient safety; accessing specimen adequacy of fine needle aspiration biopsy procedures that occur at Tisch Hospital and Bellevue Hospital; completing screening in a timely fashion as defined by the supervisor and/or medical director; screening gynecologic and non-gynecological specimens, including cell blocks and special stains specimens according to departmental schedules or assignment by supervisory staff and reaches reasonable interpretation; entering results in the computer system accurately and appropriately; plus all related job duties as assigned. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
ASCP certification and certification in liquid-based technologies and in computer-based screening systems preferred.
