Construction of the **Lake Charles Refinery** was completed in 1941 at a cost of $4.5MM. The refinery was originally designed to process 7,500 barrels of crude oil per day to supply high-octane aviation fuel to WWII war planes.

Through 60 years of upgrades, LCR now processes 239,000 barrels of crude oil per day most of which is heavy sour & some high acid synthetic crude. Each upgrade of the facility brought additional complexity and market advantages. Most recently, LCR completed a $300MM dollar project to meet clean fuels regulations.

**Description:**

Development and implementation of occupational hygiene and other programs in chemical safety, radiation control, ergonomics and the like to assure the facility complies with company policies, federal, state and local regulations, and to conserve employee resources and protect property by promotion of safe and healthful working conditions in general.

**Responsibilities may include:**

* Visibly demonstrates a personal commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
* Manages group budget, and administrative duties.
* Plans and implements industrial hygiene programs and projects for improving compliance & protection of human or other resources.
* Directs and implements chemical, biological, noise, ergonomic and radiation hazard recognition & evaluation activities.
* Evaluates requests for changes in hazardous materials or processes.
* Trains facility personnel in a variety of health and safety areas.
* Maintains computer databases for safety and health information.
* Specifies, purchases and manages hazard monitoring equipment for emergency response operations.

**Basic/Required:**

* Legally authorized to work in the United States
* Bachelor’s Degree in Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene or equivalent field
* Direct experience with Hazwoper regulatory requirements & emergency response
* Willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to complete the following:
* Climbing, standing, crawling, confined space entry, hazmat response and maneuvering through process areas containing pumps, towers, compressors, piping systems, etc.
* Must be able to use all refinery required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
* Subject to being on call 24/7/365. Must wear a communication device, such as a pager/cellphone
* Must be able to work in outside weather conditions including cold and heat
* Must be able to carry up to 35 lbs of sampling equipment and supplies while performing any of above physical tasks
* Proficient on Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
* Working knowledge of OSHA, ACGIH, NIOSH and industry industrial hygiene rules and occupational exposure limits
* Must have or be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to obtain a Transportation Worker''s Identification Credential (TWIC)

**Preferred:**

* 10 or more years of refining of similar experience
* Certified Industrial Hygiene (CIH) qualification
* Personal Competencies:
* Strong interpersonal skills necessary to work with salaried and hourly employees
* Sets and follows through on meaningful objectives and has the ability to organize and delegate effectively
* Accurate in data tracking and in report preparation
* Strong and effective communicator in both individual and group settings. This includes oral and written communications.
* Able to assess risks and be assertive concerning protection of personnel during emergency response events

**TWIC:**

This position requires you to have a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC card) to gain access to secure areas of Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) regulated facilities and vessels. Any candidate selected for this position will not be allowed to begin work without a card in hand or proof from the TSA of a card "In Production" or "In Transit."
