**Essential Job Functions:**

QuEST is seeking an experienced Hardware Validation Engineer to provide technical support of hardware validation activities in our Engineering teams by performing the following:

* Provide technical guidance to transition managers throughout entire hardware transition life-cycle including risk assessments, FAI, material, process, and operation sheet reviews.

* Interpret drawings in accordance with ANSI Y14.5M-1982 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing as required to support hardware validation; experience with UTC Aerospace Systems drawings a plus

* Provide producibilty reviews for engineering documents such as drawings, specifications, test procedures, etc.

* Define hardware validation plans to guarantee performance of new production hardware will meet design intent.

* Review First Article and other technical documentation to substantiate validation plans.

* Drive consistency and adherence to quality procedures and specification requirements within QuEST and UTAS transition teams.

**Specialized Knowledge/Skills:**

* Ability to manage and track deliverables for changing priorities

* Thorough understanding of how to interpret engineering documents, i.e. drawings, specifications, test procedures, etc. for material processing requirements including but not limited to coatings, heat treatment, welding, controlled and/or frozen processes, special materials (rawma), approved sources

* Thorough knowledge of AS9102 First Article process and procedures for review of document conformity to QMS standards; experience with UTAS QMS a plus

* Knowledge of machining processes including but not limited to milling, turning, drilling, grinding, lathing, etc.

* Basic understanding of thermodynamics as it applies to machining of hardware, i.e. heat stresses, cold working, etc.

* Knowledge of Aerospace products, manufacturing process planning / measurement and PFMEA desired

* Experience with AS9100, ISO9001, APQP, QMS, Lean/Six Sigma desired

* Knowledge on managing supplier non-conformance and supplier deviation and concession activities; identify and drive process improvement, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.

**Qualifications**

* AS or BS in Engineering or related technical field

* 2-4 years in Aerospace manufacturing or quality engineering preferred

* Experience working in ambiguous situations required, such as taking action when all the information is not available

* Strong background in interpretation of Engineering drawings/specifications, metrology, and manufacturing process planning/evaluation

* Able to work in a team environment and independently

* ASQ, Operations / Quality Management Degree, or similar certifications preferred

* Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint, required

* Ability to write effective business correspondence and lucid, comprehensive reports on specialist and complex topics in a style appropriate to the situation and reader.

* Ability to write important documents such as Certification Reports, Sentencing, buy-off's etc.

* Proficient with the metrics, online tools, and reporting systems that form the Infrastructure of supplier or customer tools.

* Able to write or correct standard work and process

* **Production Capacity reviews**

* Good understanding and experience using various parameters impacting Capacity

* Ability to perform Capacity Analysis at suppliers

* Ability to administer Capacity modeling tools

* Ability to validate parameters and evaluate Gage R&R; during capacity study

* Knowledge of inventory management.

* Proficient in conducting process capability analysis and giving the CP and CPK results

* **Manufacturing Process Knowledge**

* Proficient in Manufacturing Processes associated with specific Part Families (Eg., machining, fabrication, electrical assembly)

* Awareness of application / requirements of Fixtures, Jigs, Gauges , tooling and Poke yoke (Mistake proofing) techniques.

* Tools setting and tooling set up time for various operations

* Aware of the various gauges and critical to quality (CTQ) features

* Aware of inspection and quality assurance requirements and NDT process.

* Awareness of Control Conformance Features (CCF) and inspection requirements.

* Ability to analyze part parameters, interpret MRP signals, and exhibit understanding of MRP optimization techniques

* **DOMAIN - Part / Product Knowledge**

* Strong understanding of the process of manufacturing of the part /assembly.

* Very good understanding of assembly drawings and co-relating the same to Manufacturing process.

* Able to identify the tolerances for the part and its criticality

* **Part/Qualification Methodology & Tools**

* Strong understanding of process maps.

* Ability to review and improve on the control plans.

* Experience with PFMEA and DFMEA and mitigating the risk.

* Ability to conduct RCA’s and suggest improvements.
