POSITION SUMMARY:

The Civil Engineering position will be responsible for scheduling and overseeing field location reconnaissance, surveying and staking, and geotechnical work on all well pads and access roads for a significant operated unconventionals development project. This position requires a knowledge of civil engineering, and experience in oil and gas operations, road design and construction, hydrology, and grassland impacts. A background in regulatory constraints related to pad and road building is also desired. This job will additionally require regular interaction with a cross-functional team consisting of surface land negotiators, drilling engineers, facilities and piping designers, and regulatory and permitting personnel. Some project management, including preliminary cost estimation, cost-benefit analysis, feasibility reporting, and scheduling and forecasting will be required.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Scheduling reconnaissance and survey work and coordinate activities with other teams
Field review of proposed well pad locations, delivery of detailed and concise reports of findings and recommendations
Review and approval of surveying invoices and contractor timesheets, PR requests and forecasting and accruals for survey/design work
Schedule geotechnical/subsurface work, road and bridge studies, and hydrology studies and interpret findings. Cost/benefit analyses.
Oversee third-party well pad design process including review meetings, revision requests, and document control
Oversight of as-built disturbance and as-built pit surveys
Create rig layouts, work-over layouts, and frac layouts in AutoCad for sign off and approval by the functions
Review of local characteristics using GIS and other tools including constraints presented by pipelines, federally protected wetlands and grasslands, access and landowners, residences and other civil features, topography, and existing wellbore profiles
Provide preliminary cost analyses and recommendations to Area Work Teams, facilitating informed decision making and site selection
Public road management to support all functions of the company by interacting and negotiating with county and township officials
Actively seek ways to improve efficiency of work processes and policies, contractor management and best practices reviews, performance and cost based contractor selection

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Technical knowledge of civil engineering design including surveying, alignment sheets, asbuilts, and geotechnical awareness
Ability to manage deadlines and requirements of multiple internal and external customers and stakeholders
Able to comprehend Statements of Requirements from cross-functional Houston-based teams
Strong attention to detail
Understanding of North Dakota Industrial Commission and BLM rules and regulations
Able to use both CAD and mapping softwares and interpret data
Ability to communicate effectively in e-mail, presentations, and informal settings - including directing preparation of maps, slides, charts or other needed supporting materials
Some physical activity and work outdoors is required, including scoping of locations and access routes in difficult and unimproved terrain and unpredictable weather

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Minimum 2 years civil engineering experience
Minimum 2 years Oil and Gas experience
