The Human Resources Consultant is responsible for effectively providing HR consultative supportto business units with medium organizational complexity. The HR environment isfast-paced, sometimes under pressure, and professional. Confidentiality is acrucial component in this position.

Successful incumbents possess and apply a comprehensive knowledge of HR principles, practices and procedures to aid in the completion and resolution of the most complex HR assignments and issues.

**Reporting Information/Location**

This Human Resources Consultant position is located at 411 W. Lafayette Blvd, Detroit, Michigan and reports theVice President, Human Resources Manager for Wealth Management. This position has no direct reports.

Position Responsibilities:

Client Support:

* Provide one point of contact for HR support to assist in the achievement of client's business and growth objectives.

* Provide strategic partnership and advisement with internal client leadership at all levels.

* Practice and demonstrate balanced advocacy in all client services and decisions.

* Seek creative solutions for clients within HR policies and practices. Proactively identify business and HR objectives/expectations that will benefit client leaders and manage to completion.

* Provide day to day coaching for managers on employee matters; provide prudent, anticipatory advice on employee issues to leaders within the client organization.

* Lead the improvement of quality and delivery of HR processes and data requests with zero defects.

* Assist leaders in the development and implementation of organizational structure changes including identifying impact and assisting in the communication as needed.

* Lead and participate in strategy sessions and implementation of key deliverables.

* Prepare valuable HR agenda items for client staff meetings, facilitate discussions, raise issues and encourage dialogue.

Employee Relations

* Provide counsel to client leaders in order to proactively anticipate and address complex HR issues impacting the business.

* Respond to questions from managers and employees concerning HR policies and procedures.

* Assist in investigations arising from alleged violations of policies and procedures, HR hotline calls, employee grievance complaints and agency claims. Partner with the Comerica Fraud and Legal departments to recommend appropriate actions.

* Support managers on tactics to address employee performance issues and provide direction on corrective action documents ensuring adherence to guidelines and procedures.

* Conduct exit interviews for employees who leave the bank.

* Interface with the business unit and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) vendor on non-critical incidents.

* Coordinate activities with Corporate Employee Relations and Comerica Legal related to displaced employees and transactions between the business units.

Benefits Management

* Act as a liaison between employee, manager and Corporate Benefits.

* Support employees and managers on benefits and policies related to Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and time off.

* Support the communication of benefit plan and leave program changes.

* Counsel employees on appropriate steps to take to contact Benefit vendor partners.

* Identify issues and give Corporate Benefits information to assist in finding the right solution for the employee and the bank.

* Communicate with managers and employees the resources available related to ergonomic equipment and evaluations.

Compensation Administration

* Support Corporate Compensation by ensuring clients are aware of compensation policies, processes and procedures.

* Coordinate and guide management through the annual merit and bonus process, promotions and all other off-cycle salary adjustments. Review the recommendations for consistency and equity.

* Consult with business unit management to prepare, review and update job documentation as needed.

* Provide job evaluation proposals to the Compensation Committee for approval.

* Match positions with survey data; utilize the survey data to develop incentive plans proposals, total compensation package recommendations, and other business decisions related to compensation transactions.

Learning and Development

* Coordinate and lead talent management discussions with assigned business leaders.

* Coordinate with the business unit to identify opportunities for staff development and assist managers on creating development plans for themselves and direct reports.

* Provide guidance on the Performance Management process which includes the creation of an annual performance plan and execution of an interim and annual review.

* Assist business unit leaders as they provide feedback on competencies for individual contributors, supervisors and managers.

* Internally market and communicate leadership and skills-based training course options.

Talent Acquisition

* Coordinate with the business unit and Talent Acquisition to manage, retain and obtain skilled talent including tracking of all open positions across the business units.

* Work with Talent Acquisition to develop appropriate job postings for both internal and external use as it relates to open positions.

* Respond to questions regarding the internal job posting process and procedures.

* Assist Talent Acquisition with interviewing and job offer design.

HR Administrative Management

* Participate in project teams in client organization, providing guidance and support as appropriate.

* Support employees on action steps to take for resolution on payroll and HR transaction issues.

* Explain how the HR systems work to the end users.

* Provide feedback to HRIS on employee-vendor interactions and experiences.

**Qualifications**

**Qualifications**

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited university

* 8 years human resources experience including 6 years consulting experience

* 1 year experience in project management

* 4 years experience with web-based computer and Windows applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
