Job Description
The Senior Project Engineer is a key position in driving new product design and development of hazardous location products for both North American and global markets. The primary design focus includes hazardous location enclosures, circuit breakers and panel boards. This position will be responsible for products through the full product life cycle. The Senior Project Engineer will lead multidiscipline project teams for new product development programs and in support of existing production product improvements.
Job Responsibilities
* Product design and development from concept creation to final production
* Translating marketing specifications and voice of customer research into product designs
* Maintain a working understanding of global safety certification requirements for Appleton products
* Research and apply innovative technology directed at creating new products
* Leadership and technical mentoring of junior engineers and global engineering resources
* Design control, bill of material creation and maintenance, tracking and controlling design costs
* Project management from inception to launch coordinating activities off a multidiscipline global team
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
* 10+ years’ experience in developing electrical power distribution products.
* AutoCAD
* Pro-E or Inventor
* MS Office
* Good communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in hazardous location (explosion-proof) product design.
* Knowledge of sheet metal design.
* Knowledge of plastic molding design.
* Experience with circuit breaker panel board design.
* Understanding and familiarity with UL, CSA and IEC standards.
* MS Project or similar project management applications
