Position Description:
The SAP Project Manager oversees the delivery of the SAP projects underway for a metropolitan area. The SAP Project Manager will focus on management of various SAP projects such as implementations, upgrades and platform migrations.
Role Specific
-Manage the overall planning, execution and delivery of projects
-Track project status and managing project issues and risks
-Ensure project milestones are met and determine mitigation if risk of not meeting milestones exist
-Responsible for project specific budget monitoring and activities
-Escalate project issues and risks as appropriate to leadership
-Develop a quality-focused culture based on ITIL and Lean Six Sigma or comparable methodologies to drive client satisfaction
-Focus on revenue generation, gross profit achievement, and project-based performance (project economics, quality assurance, client satisfaction) targets.
-Identify new business opportunities and draft proposals/statements of work
-Ensure successful execution and efficient management of all programs and projects, including financial management, forecasting / budgeting, resource allocation, invoicing and revenue recognition.
-Define and execute internal and organization wide processes that improve management of program/project documentation, communication and execution.
-Ensure contractual compliance and monitor contractual obligations; manage changes as appropriate
-Demonstrates in-depth understanding of our clients SAP strategy and how the strategy is being implemented. Ability to frame concepts within the context of the strategy, to identify opportunities for alignment and to influence peers to align.
-Demonstrates understanding of the significance of the project and impact on the overall business; Takes the initiative to create the linkage between project objectives and how deliverables satisfy these objectives; ensures project team understands how their work impacts the end result.
-Maintain executive level status and visibility on all programs and projects in an assigned program area, and act as escalation point for any risks/ issues requiring supervisory attention.
-Track and report on program/project level metrics to report to program and executive leadership
People Management
-Build and lead effective project teams
-Provide performance feedback and capability development of project team members
-Develop and execute resource management plans
Knowledge Sharing / Documentation
-Ensure required project artifacts are created and posted to appropriate project repository
-Ensure knowledge sharing and leveraging of lessons learned within project management teams
-Develop and implement effective communication plans
-Provide PM coaching and mentoring
-Participate in best practice development and continuous improvement
-Demonstrate and share increasing program knowledge
-Participate in PM forums and other similar undertakings (presentations)
-Serve as the -face- of project management to promote standard process and tools and awareness across client organization
-Serve as a key liaison with all external groups, global delivery and multi-vendor experience
ESSENTIAL SKILLS REQUIRED
-10+ Years SAP IT Consulting and Project Management experience
-Extreme communication and organizational skills
-Effective negotiation skills
-Ensures the primary goals of our customers: to generate business value are promoted, understood and managed and met. In-depth knowledge of customer-s businesses, functions and all relevant stakeholders to successfully drive decisions and recommendation regarding the IT portfolio.
