Role synopsis: The Instrument Technician is a member of a multidiscipline operations team, reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader. The main purpose of this position is to ensure instrumentation, control systems and automation systems are calibrated and functioning properly.
Working with facility engineers, the instrument technician will provide input to optimize the systems and ensure appropriate regulatory requirements and records are maintained. This position will require the ability to assess, maintain, repair and monitor control systems and systems associated with compressors, pumps, generation and well control.
The instrument technician should be skilled in maintaining the performance of temperature, pressure, flow and level measurement control equipment, as well as valves, hydraulic control panels and single loop controllers.
Accountable for maintaining and safely operating all facility instrumentation, measurement devices and final control elements, such as process control, safety shutdown, fire detection and suppression, gas detection, emergency shutdown, etc.
The Instrument Technician operates and maintains the process and utilities systems in a safe and efficient manner with minimum impact on the environment to deliver production targets, and in compliance with OMS standards and Group Defined Practices.
Key accountabilities: - Maintain all facility instrumentation, measurement devices and final control elements - Maintain the following systems: process control, safety shutdown, fire detection and suppression, gas detection, emergency shutdown, inclusive of end devices, wiring and control panels for each of these systems - Calibrate and inspect relevant devices for various systems, as well as perform maintenance of the facility communications systems - Maintain the documentation for many systems, including loop diagrams, panel drawings and all relevant discipline control documents - Generate detailed work records and hand over notes to facilitate proper communications between work crews - Manage parts and special equipment orders prior to annual or anticipated overhauls of major equipment, within area of expertise
Essential Education: - A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
Essential experience and job requirements: - 5 or more years of Instrumentation experience in the Oil & Gas industry - Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) - The demonstrated ability in instrumentation troubleshooting, calibration techniques for transmitters, remote telemetry devices, displacer type level transmitters/controllers and control valve positioners - Knowledge and demonstrated previous use of Industrial Communications Systems (Ethernet, ControlNet, Modbus, Data Highway Plus, DeviceNet) and associated Electrical Interfaces (RS-232C, RS-485, RS-422) or equivalent - Software suite (RSLogix, RSLinx, RSNetworx, Panelbuilder, RSTune) or equivalent - The willingness and ability to relocate or commute, at your own expense, to Houma, Louisiana on a rotational 14 days on/off schedule in order to fulfill the responsibilities of the position - The willingness and ability to ride in a helicopter or boat over Gulf of Mexico waters for extended periods and be transferred to/from a boat via personnel basket swung by a crane with or without reasonable accommodations - The willingness and ability to successfully complete a fitness for duty assessment - The willingness and ability to serve as a member of an emergency response team - Must currently possess or be able to secure a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)card

Desirable criteria & qualifications: - Basic to advanced knowledge of electronic maintenance monitoring planning systems - Strong team working skills, along with experience working with engineers and multidisciplinary teams - Knowledge and demonstrated previous use of Allen Bradley PLC's and Input/Output or equivalent - Knowledge and demonstrated previous use of the Rockwell (Allen Bradley) Applications Knowledge of Electronic Custody Transfer Measurement Systems - The ability to effectively manage priorities while working with various types of people and groups - Offshore Experience a strong plus
