*SERVICE TECHNICIAN TRAINEE - Charleston, SC*

Hobart Service has exciting job opportunities for individuals who have mechanical aptitude but limited or no training. Hobart Service is part of the ITW company www. ITW.com and specializes in the maintenance and repair of commercial food equipment.

The Service Technician Trainee will study under the guidance of senior service technicians in the field at customer sites and in Hobart Service training school in Troy, OH. Once the trainee has completed the program, they will be ready to work independently as a service technician serving food equipment customers in the assigned market.

Responsibilities:

_*Under the direction of a senior technician and service trainers, learn the proper procedures for the following:*_

* Adjusting, aligning, assembling, calibrating, inspecting, lubrication, and testing of equipment.

* Problem diagnosis including electrical/mechanical and electronics troubleshooting. Must be able to be innovative and use common sense to remedy a situation so the customer may resume operations.

* Maintain working knowledge of latest modifications, retrofit, etc. for equipment assigned to service.

* Assist others on equipment installations or in performing major repair assignments.

* Maintain a working knowledge of parts stocking and identification methods, practices and procedures

* Satisfactorily complete schools and audio/visual field training as required.

* Comply with all service policies and procedures of Hobart and the local branch.

* Maintain personal image to meet or exceed company standards.

* Comply with all safety standards.

_*Once trainee period is complete responsibilities will also include:*_

* Consistently achieve or surpass weekly productivity and service labor revenue goals assigned by management. (number repairs, first call completion, call back %)

* Responsible for inventory and a professional appearance of service vehicle, maintain accurate vehicle inventory

* Assist in obtaining contracts and achieve or exceed monthly sales goals.

* Assist in developing sales leads for contracts/water treatment, etc.

* Assist, as necessary, with product demonstrations at customer locations and at trade shows.

_*Qualifications:*_

* High school diploma or GED

* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

* Computer literate, Microsoft office experience preferred

* Technical aptitude

* Mechanical ability

* Basic computer skills

* Practical Problem Solving / Ability to follow logical processes and create troubleshooting work flows for various products

* Mechanical and Electrical troubleshooting skills

* Work independently

* Able to drive multiple hours per day

* Customer Interaction skills

* Able to work overtime, often with short notice, as required, including on call.

* Able to travel and attend training schools

* Valid driver’s license and good driving record

_*Physical Requirements:*_

* Lifting 50-75 lbs with or without assistance

* Climbing up to 8 ft with ladder

* Extensive walking 3-5 miles / day

* Extensive driving 5-6 hours/day

* Kneeling, squatting, bending, pushing/pulling

* Exposure to noise, heat, cold, slippery, wet conditions

* OT as required
