Kiewit Power in Lenexa is looking to hire a Senior Applications Engineer to join our team on a fulltime basis. Intergraph’s SmartPlant is a 3D modeling tool used heavily by Kiewit Power to help design and estimate work. Experience supporting SmartPlant would be nice, but if you’re a fast learner with a good understanding of Information Technology infrastructure (networking, servers, application architecture, databases, etc.) and advanced application troubleshooting, this could be a great opportunity for you!
This Sr Applications Engineer will be responsible for the support, administration, maintenance, and implementation of applications related to Intergraph’s design and modeling suite. Will be involved in SmartPlant projects phases, such as scope definition, system design and installation, documentation, end user training, configuration and customization work, product integration, system testing, and user acceptance testing.

Sr Applications Engineer will act as a liaison between other departments within Kiewit’s IT department, the users, and our business partners throughout the organization to implement various SmartPlant-related projects.
This position involves extensive application troubleshooting, installing new modules, deploying new applications, finding the root cause of issues (technical or functional), lots of documentation, working with the testing teams to make sure the application is doing what it needs to do, and proactively looking to make sure backups and other things are running as they should.
This person’s success will be measured by: Is our SmartPlant environment available, performing correctly, and are we deploying the new modules the business is asking for and meeting their needs?
This position reports to the Sr. Applications Architect.

Responsibilities:

• Support and maintain Intergraph SmartPlant application deployments, infrastructure, services, and supporting tools
• Document, test, and deploy SmartPlant applications, upgrades, and hotfixes as identified by business stakeholders
• Identify software defects and collaborate with business partners, internal IT/IM teams, and third-party software vendor (Intergraph) to identify root causes, workarounds, and corrective actions
• Create and maintain documentation related to all SmartPlant applications, infrastructure, processes, projects, and supporting tools
• Serve as technical expert and resource for SmartPlant IM projects using Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, including project planning, design, testing, and execution phases
• Communicate with business partners, internal IT/IM teams, and Intergraph to identify solutions to business SmartPlant requests that align with Kiewit OneIM and Intergraph standards
• Maintain SmartPlant performance/availability/integrity by defining, enforcing, and communicating SmartPlant environment processes and standards
Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Information Technology or Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience supporting/administering Windows Servers, Windows 7 client PCs, SQL databases, Active Directory/corporate network environment
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
• Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
• Ability to effectively manage a variety of technically complicated tasks and projects
Nice to Have:
• Knowledge of Intergraph products and data flow: SmartPlant Foundation, 3D, Electrical, Instrumentation, P&ID
