**Position Title: Inventory Finance Manager**

Working as a skilled individual contributor collaboratively across functions, this role will support financial planning & analysis, accounting/Controllership and operational improvements in Yankee Candle’s $150 million global inventory investment. It is an ideal opportunity for a candidate with a solid technical accounting/finance foundation who desires a role providing exposure to Supply Chain operations, the company’s business model and the related challenges. In specific but not limited to the successful candidate will:

+ Ensure appropriate controllership over all inventory accounting matters, including following/strengthening reserve policies and reconciling inventory general ledger accounts to the sub ledger.

+ Lead the financial planning & analysis process on inventory. This includes developing forecasts of monthly balances with each forecast cycle through collaboration with business units and production planning, reporting actuals for each cycle with explanations for key variances in terms of inventory balances, turns, and days on hand.

+ Lead the biweekly/monthly Inventory Review with the COO and CFO; use the meeting as a forum to identify and raise visibility of business practices that drive inefficient inventory issues and present recommendations to improve. Utilize a “total company” framework to evaluating tradeoffs involving inventory to guide decisions.

+ Support the VP Supply Chain Finance with review of new product proposals to identify significant inventory risks and recommend alternatives. Leverage historical sales and inventory data to identify high risk product lines and provide suggestions to mitigate. Attend meetings where new product proposals are discussed with a broad group of stakeholders.

+ Develop relationships with key business unit stakeholders to help manage inventory levels. Regularly review excess & obsolete inventory and identify alternatives to address and prevent recurrence.

+ Own and standardize processes regarding capitalized inventory variances such as purchase price variance, manufacturing variance, purchased finished goods burden and capitalized freight.

+ With support develop and maintain policies, on a variety of inventory accounting topics including excess & obsolescence reserves, variance capitalization, vendor liability management and the standard costing process.

+ Drive continuous process improvements, including identifying reporting gaps as they emerge and work through BIS process to develop functional specs, prioritize, test and support implementation.

# Minimum Requirements:

+ Bachelor’s of Science or Art in Accounting or Finance, CPA a plus but not required.

+ Minimum 5 years of applicable experience in accounting/finance including 2 years in inventory. Operations experience helpful.

+ MS Office skills, Microsoft Access and Excel experience required, Oracle experience a plus.

+ Ability to multi-task and manage through multiple priorities with diplomacy

+ Proven organizational skills, detail-orientation and solid work ethic

+ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

+ Must be able to work independently as well as be part of a team within the matrix environment

Flexibility in work schedule is also required for possible overtime, work on holidays, weekends and extended hours with minimal notice and as required by operational need.
