Japan Cherry Blossom Forecast for 2016
This year’s cherry blossom forecast is expected to open close to their average schedule in 2016. The cherry blossoms are predicted to start opening in late March and reach their peak in early April in Central Japan. The Kanto region at this stage is expected to be around 2 or 3 days later than usual, while the Kansai region can also expect to open around 2 or 3 days later than last year.
The Cherry Blossom season typically starts in January in Okinawa and sweeps up the mainland to Hokkaido in May.
The best time for viewing the cherry blossoms varies between a few days to a week from the first bloom, so don’t leave it too late to see the beautiful blossoms.
I have created a table below for the major places in Japan with the estimate start date and peak bloom of the cherry blossoms. This is only a predication and is based on long term forecasts for February and March. Please refer back to this page for regular updates and reports.
