A remake of an older photo using textures, and a video about how to use textures with your own photos.

How to Apply Textures to Photos

I have been receiving questions on how to apply textures for years. My typical answer to this question is to do a quick Google search, find a site that looks good, and refer them there. This is not an ideal solution. For starters, I have never found instructions that I am 100% happy with.

So, I finally decided to make my own video. I am new to the world of screencasts, so this video may be a little rough around the edges, but hopefully it is easy enough to follow. Let me know if anything is unclear in it.

I am trying to sepreate posts a little more here to make future reference easier, so I posted the video sepreately. Actually, I posted it right before this post, so you may have already seen it in your RSS feed. If you missed the post, however, go watch the video here.

Daily Photo: I Once Knew This Place

One thing I love about Japan is old places, especially old shrines. This shrine was crammed between some buildings in Nagoya. I didn’t expect to find it—well, actually, I never expect to find half the shrines I do; half the fun of exploring cities in Japan is discovering hidden shrines like this.

This is a remake of an old photo using textures. If you watched the video linked to above, this is the photo I used.
