It seems parliamentarians in the treasury bench have decided to fill the gap of opposition leaders in terms of questioning the government on its policies.
Latest in the series to cause embarrassment to Narendra Modi government is the suspended BJP MP from Darbhanga, Kirti Azad.
According to The Hindu, Azad demanded to know from Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu, why a scheme of affordable housing named after the Prime Minister, the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana had a success rate of only 5%.
Azad questioned the scheme day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi told his party MPs at the BJP’s Parliamentary Party meet to take the government’s good work to the people.
Azad, who has been vocal against the corruption in the DDCA particularly during the period Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, headed the body, was suspended by the party late last year.
The former India cricketer, who was also a key member of 1983 World Cup winning team, enjoys considerably good support in his native city Darbhanga in Bihar.
