She had a lot of fans at the time she appeared on X Factor in 2008, many of whom thought she should have been the winner instead of coming fifth behind JLS and ultimate winner Alexandra Burke … but Ruth Lorenzo, born in Murcia, is now to represent Spain itself in the Eurovision song contest this year. Ruth was selected last night in the finals of the national competition, and her song, Dancing In The Rain, is a half Spanish-half English ballad that she wrote herself. The Eurovision song contest will take place in Copenhagen in May. Could this be Spain’s year? Certainly Ruth is through to the final already because Spain is one of the “big five” who automatically qualify on the grounds of their financial investment in the contest.
