My daughter, Bella, likes a lot of things but if you had to make her choose her three favorite things in the whole wide world (excluding her mommy of course) she would choose dogs, drawing, and playing games.  So, you can only imaging her delight when we received a brand new product to review that combines all three of her favorite things and allows her some special mommy-daughter time!  Canine Cardz, by Zazzy Pals, made its debut last month and is a card game based on the creator's original paintings of real dogs and their true stories. There are eight different ways to play, brightly colored dog bone pieces, and, as a bonus, children can learn to draw dogs with 10 Draw-a-Dog cards, 12 colored pencils, and a sketch pad.  In addition to being some good old-fashioned fun, the games also reinforce reading, color recognition, matching, visual discrimination, fine motor skills, and visual memory.

Canine Cardz Review:  My daughter was so excited when they arrived - she could hardly contain herself! The game has everything you need to play and they are all contained in a nice and sturdy cylinder. Plus, the cards are contained in a snap-closure plastic case so the likelihood of losing a card is low.  I love that there are so many different games that you can play so we have opted to play a new game every night which she thoroughly enjoys. Each of the games has an adorable canine-themed name and many are similar to games you and your kids are already quite familiar with (e.g., Go Fetch is a dog-version of Go-Fish).  We have literally had hours of fun this week and have not even gotten through all of the games yet! Since there are so many different options, it is not easy to get sick of it. The games were easy enough for her to play yet were still fun for me to play with her.

One of Bella's favorite activities was the Draw-a-Dog cards. She is really talented for a 7-year-old and won an art award this past school year (sorry, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to gloat). At first I thought the dogs on the cards would be too challenging for her but after I sat down with her once and showed her how to do some shading she quickly got the hang of it and has been challenging herself to get through all the cards.

This is a really fun set and is a must-have for any dog-loving families!!
